Empire have released more excerpts from their interview with producer Lauren Shuler Donner, and perhaps most the most interesting piece of information to be revealed during their chat was that Donner who is, "mindful of Reynolds' ever-growing logjam of work, added that the film would shoot in the next year or so." A lot further along than any of us realised then! Here are some of the other highlights of that interview.

On THe Current Status Of The Deadpool Movie:

"We're looking for a director, yes. He’s very involved, Ryan. He’s working with the writers on the screenplay and it is as much as it is ours."

On Keeping The Movie Faithful To The Comic Books:

"I'm tellin' ya, it's true to the comic. You’ll see all of them. You’ll see Wade Wilson, the good-looking Ryan Reynolds! You’ll see Deadpool in his costume and you’ll see the cancer-scarred face."

On What To Expect From The Wolverine:

"It will have depth and a dramatic backbone. And yet there's more action in this one than in any one we've ever done. It's such a good script. We have the great Christopher McQuarrie writing and it's very true to the Japanese saga. This is Logan on his own..."

Foxs idea of sticking to the source material is to give him blue skin, wings, a yellow costume, the ability to travel through time, part robot and transgendered. Has ANYTHING fox done been true to any source material yet?

It definitely sounds like they are working from that script that leaked, and if so this movie will frakking own..provided they don't hire some hack director that is.

Robert Rodriguez or Matthew Vaughn should take Deadpool!

James McTeigue (V For Vendetta) should take The Wolverine!

If they can attach a good director to this it should be pretty exciting. Also, R rating is totally plausible as the budget wont likely be too high meaning there wont be too much risk with the loss of tickets sold.

And why is Marvel studios so bullet proof? They have produced 3 movies, one was very good, one was just OK and one wasn't very good at all, or you could say that the last one was just a cash-in. Marvel is just as guilty of cheap cash-ins as any other production company, if they cared so much about their source material and not making money maybe they shouldn't have sold all their best properties away in the first place.

God I hope this is true. Get a worthy director in the chair and secure a spot in Ryan Reynolds schedule and get this thing made already! Before its too late and he makes R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Deadpool)

@ ryguy and superdog

well, I personally thought Iron Man and Incredible Hulk were both great movies. Iron Man 2 was still good, just not as great as the others.

But its not like Marvel sold those titles to other production companies for no reason. At the time, Marvel was going bankrupt and their company would have gone completely under if they didn't sell their movie rights to Fox and Sony. SO you can't really hate on 'em for that, otherwise there would be no Marvel today...

Dumegg - 3/28/2011, 11:50 AM
i like the sound of the "R" rating... if they have the
stones to stick to that.

Atleast Ryan is still attached to it. I have no doubt in my mind he will either chose DP over RIPD, or be able to do both, along with GL.

This may be small news, but atleast its something on this. I really want to see this movie made, after the amazing script.

If they keep the leaked Deadpool script as it is and get a director who can do it justice they will have one of the greatest movies ever on their hands!

As for Wolverine, I've lost all faith in Shuler Donner, FOX and even Hugh Jackmans ability to give us a true Wolverine movie. But I will still watch it, in hope. And I will most likely enjoy seeing one of my favourite characters on screen again only to be more displeased with every moment I think about it from then on.

this CBM has the possibility to be great , only because fox doesn't give a shit about the deadpool movie, there focus wolverine and the x-men even daredevil got a director first .if fox really did wanted a deadpool movie then we would have a director by now. it's cause fox is less involve why deadpool might be a good movie and is more likly to be rated R.
