DEATHSTROKE Actor Joe Manganiello Has Confirmed That A Solo Film Featuring The Character Is "In The Works"

It's been a while since we heard anything on this, but former True Blood actor Joe Manganiello has now seemingly confirmed that Warner Bros. does indeed have plans for a solo movie featuring Deathstroke...

Back in October of last year, we got word that Warner Bros. was planning a solo Deathstroke movie with The Raid director Gareth Evans at the helm. We hadn't heard anything about it since, with many assuming that the studio had simply given up on the idea.

However, Joe Manganiello has now confirmed that the wheels are still in motion.

It's not much, but here's what the actor had to say when quizzed about the project by Variety on the Rampage premiere red carpet:

Manganiello briefly appeared as Slade Wilson in the mid-credits scene of Justice League, where it was strongly implied that the character would join Lex Luthor's team of villains for the sequel.

But with a follow-up now uncertain after the first film's disappointing performance at the box office, there's a decent chance we could see this Deathstroke movie first.

Can't trust anything DC Film related ATM. This could be a great film, but those WB execs are gonna chop the footage up like the goddamn Wolverine

I honestly couldn't care less at this point. Justice League gave me no real hope for the DCEU going forward. I'm fairly excited for any MCU film announced because they have a track record of making movies I enjoyed. DC doesn't have that so I think at the moment the only upcoming DC movie I'm gonna see in theaters is maybe Shazam if the marketing interests me.

@JustAChillFan - Yup. I feel the same with SW at the moment too. I won't be going to see any DC or SW movies in the theaters until I see an increase in quality and upper management shows that they care about making an overall cohesive and enjoyable narrative.

@KermitTheFraud - Star Wars. I'm one of those that feel like Kennedy and Co. are just making things up as they go with no real passionate ideaman to guide the arcs.

It'll never see the light of day, but why not? They've thrown everything else at the wall.

No thanks...especially with him in the lead. Just not a fan of his casting. I definitely want to see this character throughout this universe though.

I know it could be BS, but there's a rumor going around about The Eternals being done by Marvel.

This is not a terrible idea...but why not introduce him in a Nightwing film. Why a solo film? I also am suspicious of Manganiello"s ability to carry a film let alone a franchise. But you never know...
