Reports from Variety reveal that Disney-Pixar's box office from their newest animated film, Coco has already made 827 million pesos in Mexico - or 43.1 million when measured in local currency.

The films' success was so great, it even dethroned Marvel's The Avengers as the country's highest grossing movie ever.

The movie premiered at the Morelia Film Festival in Mexico, October 27, and since then, it has been steadily becoming the country's biggest movie in its history. Coco includes a cast of many talented mexican voice actors with a premise the revolves around Mexico's very own holiday, Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Disney made a strategic move and planned the movie premiere just days before the actual Día de los Muertos celebration that starts October 31 and ends November 2.

Meanwhile, Coco waits for its premiere in the U.S. and Canada for November 22 while sitting ontop a Certified Fresh 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, for now. Will the movie be as big of a hit in other countries? How much do you think the movie will make? Share your thoughts in the comments.

If this film opens to more than 90 Million, then it will outgross JL domestically.

Gee, I wonder why it made so much money...

Mexico really doesn't deserve all the content it gets made about it.

@Melkac - Why doesn't Mexico deserve it? What content besides Coco are you talking about?

@JaxMoonStealer - All the tv shows based on telenovelas where the main cast goes from colombian/venezuelan/etc to mexican because americans are too dumb to understand that there are other spanish-speaking countries besides Mexico.
