BOX OFFICE: WRECK-IT RALPH Looks Set To Smash Its Way To #1 In North America

Very early estimates are in for this weekend at the North American box office, and it's Disney's Wreck-It Ralph which looks set to dominate as it heads into 3,752 theaters. According to Deadline, the film is currently accounting for 20% of online ticket sales, and based on Friday matinee trends, the animated feature should open to $14 million today and $51 million for the weekend. "I think they’re going to get enough teens to supplement the family audience and pop a real number," a rival studio exec told the site. With less than 100 movie theaters on the East Coast closed due to the effects of Hurricane Sandy, it should be business as usual this weekend at the box office. Stay tuned for further updates.

Ralph is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix, the "good guy" star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he's tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he's got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun from the first-person action game Hero's Duty. But it's the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it's too late?ers.

STARRING:

John C. Reilly as Wreck-It Ralph
Sarah Silverman as Vanellope von Schweetz
Jack McBrayer as Fix-It Felix, Jr.
Jane Lynch as Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun
Alan Tudyk as King Candy
Dennis Haysbert as General Hologram

RELEASE DATE: November 2nd, 2012.

I am taking my daughter to go see it this Saturday night. The thing is that I'll probably enjoy it more than her due to the nostalgic video game characters. :)

Saw Wreck-It Ralph earlier today. Great story, good characters, and some pretty funny jokes. Also some great Easter eggs and cameos for retro gamers.

I had expectations for this movie that wasn't met when I saw it today. My kids (11 & 12) both thought it was made for a younger audience. It had a good moral story and a few funny parts. Several Easter eggs to gamers from the 80's and 90's. it was a GOOD movie, for me it was not great.

This movie is amazing. Im 36 and a gamer, I brought my 6 year old and she loved it. I loved it, as it has an awesome story, great characters, and heart. Its def a movie for everyone, NOT just kids. There are soooo many great homage pieces, and hilarious gaming tie ins to lagging out, glitches, etc. I was expecting a good movie, and got a GREAT MOVIE! Ill be seeing it again, and buying the BluRay when it hits. Youll def know who games and doesnt as the regular laughs are there, its the funny shite they sneak in that gamers run into...a scene with a certain lag out animation at a certain bar had me laughing my ass off, while the lady next to us didnt get it :-D Great movie, and worth every penny, errrrrr quarter I mean-lol.
