Before Angelina Jolie officially joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Sersi is
The Eternals, the Academy Award-winning actress will return as
Maleficent in Disney's upcoming sequel,
Mistress of Evil.
The first teaser trailer that hit back in May wasn't particularly plot-focused, but Disney has now released a full trailer which gives is a much better idea of what to expect from the sequel, as Jolie's titular sorceresses wages a war in an effort to stop Aurora (Elle Fanning) marrying the prince (Harris Dickinson).
The footage also provides our first glimpse of Chiwetel Ejiofor's character, and it looks like the Doctor Strange actor is playing another fairy.
“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” is a fantasy adventure that picks up several years after “Maleficent,” in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora. The film continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy and the soon to be Queen as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within
Along with Jolie and Fanning, returning cast members include Sam Riley as Diaval, Imelda Staunton as Knotgrass, Juno Temple as Thistlewit, and Lesley Manville as Flittle. They'll be joined by new additions Michelle Pfeiffer, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay and Harrison Dickinson.
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is set to hit theaters on October 18, 2019.
