DIsney+ and Walt Disney Animation Studios have announced plans for a new series of shorts, Olaf Presents, starring the snowman-turned-storyteller as he recreates moments from Disney Animation classics. Among the stories set to be retold by the beloved Frozen character are The Little Mermaid, Moana, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Tangled.
In Olaf Presents, Olaf steps into the spotlight and goes from snowman to showman as he takes on the roles of producer, actor, costumer and set builder for his unique "retelling" of five favourite Disney animated tales. The charismatic and versatile Olaf demonstrates his theatrical flair, taking on such iconic roles as a mermaid, a genie, a lion king (and most of the parts in between), as he entertains Arendelle with his delightful abbreviated versions of these beloved tales.
As you might expect, Josh Gad returns to voice Olaf. Veteran Disney animator Hyrum Osmond is directing with Jennifer Newfield on board asl producer.
The first trailer for the series looks like a lot of fun, and while it's obviously aimed at a younger audience, there's no reason to think longtime Disney fans won't find something to enjoy here; Olaf's retelling of the first Frozen movie in the sequel really resonated with people and got a lot of laughs in theaters.
Olaf Presents launches exclusively on Disney+ Day, a global celebration that will come to life across The Walt Disney Company on Friday, November 12, with new reveals, releases, and more.
