A new trailer and poster for Wish has been released by Walt Disney Animation Studios (via Toonado.com) which showcases its epic new musical comedy. The cast is led by Ariana DeBose, who voices 17-year-old heroine Asha; Wonder Woman star Chris Pine, who lends his voice to the formidable King Magnifico; and Alan Tudyk, who will portray Asha's pet goat, Valentino.

Without sounding clichéd, the movie looks downright magical and should be an essential viewing experience for fans of classic Disney. After Strange World unexpectedly bombed last year, the studio will be looking to rebound with a hit, and this has all the makings of one.

In Wish, Asha, a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by a cosmic force - a little ball of boundless energy called Star.

Together, Asha and Star confront a most formidable foe - the ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico - to save her community and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen.

Disney has also shared Wish's full supporting cast along with brief descriptions of each character.

Those include Angelique Cabral as Queen Amaya, the wife and sounding board of King Magnifico; Victor Garber as Asha's grandfather, Sabino, who - at 100 years old - is patiently waiting for his wish to be granted; and Natasha Rothwell as Asha's loving and supportive mom, Sakina.

Asha's tight-knit group of confidants, protectors and forever friends will include Jennifer Kumiyama as Asha’s dearest friend, Dahlia, who's an accomplished baker and unofficial leader of their group; Evan Peters as the strong guy with a big heart and bigger yawn, Simon; Harvey Guillén as Gabo, who may be cynical, but he has a heart of gold; Ramy Youseff as Safi, who’s plagued by allergies; Niko Vargas as Asha's joyful, always smiling buddy, Hal; Della Saba as the seemingly shy teenager, Bazeema, who's full of surprises; and Jon Rudnitsky as Asha's rosy-cheeked, wiggly-eared pal, Dario.

Oscar-winning director Chris Buck (Frozen) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon) helm Wish based on a script by Lee and Allison Moore (Night Sky).

The movie's original songs come our way from Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice, with a score by composer Dave Metzger (Moana).

Wish is set to be released in theaters this Thanksgiving on November 22.

What?? According to reliable site Toonado the main character is played by Chris Pratt not Chris Pine??? What's going on???
AmazingFILMporg - 9/27/2023, 10:50 PM
This looks great💯
Origame - 9/28/2023, 10:28 AM
@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - hey, I'll take it. An original disney princess? No f@#$ing up great films from our past with modern bs? Sounds great.
DarthOmega - 9/27/2023, 10:55 PM
It looks like every Disney princess movie was put into a blender and this popped out. Not saying if it's good or bad. Just very familiar.
Usernametaken - 9/27/2023, 11:19 PM
@DarthOmega - Disney, Pixar, marvel, star wars.
It's all getting very formulaic, polished, calibrated, limited and predictable.

No more risks, just easy money. It's getting boring.
GhostDog - 9/27/2023, 11:00 PM
Animation is a little off. This looks like behind the scenes rendering. Hope the kids enjoy it though
Usernametaken - 9/27/2023, 11:10 PM
@GhostDog - yeah.
I think Disney/pixar should take some lessons from the competition and start shaking it up when it comes to the style of animation and rendering.

Their movies are starting to all look the same and it's getting boring.
Bokis - 9/28/2023, 4:33 AM
@Usernametaken - I think that's what they are trying to do. This has the same art style as almost all animated Disney movies since 2010, but the rendering is flatter, probably to look more like Spider-Verse/Puss in Boots.

Thing is, it looks worse than Encanto or Frozen...
Usernametaken - 9/28/2023, 5:00 AM
@Bokis - oh yeah, I looked at it with my phone, but with my computer I can now see, they used flat colors for the characters and some water color for the decors. It's barely noticeable, and the character design is very "disney" so it doesn't help.

They need to do more than that.
keithvw - 9/28/2023, 6:59 AM
@Bokis - I was thinking the same thing! The animation looks TV quality a best. To make sure I wasn't going crazy, I went and watched the teaser for Frozen 2 afterward. Frozen 2's animation is still mind-blowing.

I get that they want it to look 2D, but then they should have just went and made a traditionally animated movie instead of this ugly, cheap looking hybrid. I'm getting the feeling they may have reeled in hte budget on this one.
Usernametaken - 9/27/2023, 11:07 PM
This looks like the most disney movie Disney has ever disneyed.

IronMan616 - 9/27/2023, 11:28 PM
Did this fool just say "After Strange World unexpectedly bombed last year"? LOL!!! Unexpectedly? Dude everyone saw that one from a mile away.

Just like this one, expect Disney to get another L.
TyrantBossMedia - 9/27/2023, 11:36 PM
That villain looks familiar.

He looks awfully pale-skinned.

He may be Hispanic, but he looks like one of those "white Hispanics" that the media created after Trayvon Martin was killed by a Hispanic.

Males must be evil no matter what color their skin in the world of Disney.
KaptainKhaos - 9/28/2023, 12:02 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - it's ya boy Tyrantbossmedia choosing to ignore all the great male villains in cinema just so he can meet his "Disney hates men" quota. Stay strong brother!
TyrantBossMedia - 9/28/2023, 12:06 AM
@KaptainKhaos - It's ya girl KaptainKhaos choosing to ignore the very clear trend in the last decade where Disney is making the males in their movies the ONLY true villains, or representing them as incompetent, bumblers.

Keep on Sister.
EskimoJ - 9/28/2023, 12:35 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - 😐 Today I learned Caucasians of Hispanic origin were a media creation of the past decade. 😐
KaptainKhaos - 9/28/2023, 12:39 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - It's ya They/Them taking shit on a CBM forum too seriously lol

Women can't be bad because they got Tiddies and Tiddies are good
TyrantBossMedia - 9/28/2023, 12:42 AM
@KaptainKhaos - You said that. It’s amazing how the Left always reveal their overt sexism when left to their own devices.
TyrantBossMedia - 9/28/2023, 12:45 AM
@EskimoJ - sorry slick but the term “White Hispanic” was coined after Trayvon Martin was shot. It was never used in the media before that.

If a person is Hispanic and White they always call him “Hispanic”.
Much like Obama ‘s father was black but his mother who raised him is white, but they call him Black.
Why not White African American?

KaptainKhaos - 9/28/2023, 12:45 AM
@TyrantBossMedia - you don't like just having silly fun, do you?
SAZMD - 9/27/2023, 11:42 PM
Very generic looking.
KaptainKhaos - 9/28/2023, 12:04 AM
After Arcane, Spiderverse, TMNT, Puss in Boots and Nimona, Disney's animation is very much lacking
RealTurner - 9/28/2023, 12:12 AM
Hope it has something in the tank other than the king being over-the-top evil, which the trailer was quick to share. Nimona seems to have trod similar boards recently but did it pretty well.
zeon00 - 9/28/2023, 1:50 AM
I don’t need no man
FusionWarrior - 9/28/2023, 5:19 AM
Is she going to be another quirky female lead without a love interest, because if she is I'm getting kind of sick of that formula. On the plus side, it still looks better than last year's Strange World and I'm always in the mood for a musical alongside what appears to be an actual Disney Villain.
TheVisionary25 - 9/28/2023, 5:42 AM
It looks alright…

I’ll check it out for Chris Pine & Alan Tudyk atleast.
Deadinside - 9/28/2023, 9:49 AM
"Asha's grandfather, Sabino, who - at 100 years old - is patiently waiting for his wish to be granted"

His wish will be granted just before he passes, so he can die happy knowing that his wish was fulfilled...!☮😜
FriendoGhus - 9/28/2023, 10:25 AM
Lol the usual suspects in here raging because they have to look at brown people. First they claimed it was only because of race swapping, now they show their true colors when even an original property has minority characters lmao your racism is showing, this site has fallen way off.
bretticus21 - 9/28/2023, 11:25 AM
@FriendoGhus - what are you talking about? The film and animation looks horrible. Doesn’t hold a candle to Studio Ghibli at this point. The west had its time with animation and it’s over for them regardless of whatever political discourse you’re grasping at.
