DOCTOR STRANGE 2 Honest Trailer Wonders If Marvel Knows What To Do With The X-MEN And FANTASTIC FOUR

The Honest Trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally here, and it makes a lot of valid points about what exactly Marvel Studios has planned for the X-Men and Fantastic Four...

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was by no means a disappointment, but it didn't quite live up to fan expectations. As this newly released Honest Trailer points out, the "Multiverse" boiled down to on slightly futuristic Earth (the home of The Illuminati), and the Screen Junkies team has some serious concerns about the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

The Doctor Strange sequel brought characters from both teams into the MCU for the first time, but killed Professor X and Mister Fantastic in quick succession. That's not exactly what comic book fans had been hoping for!

Elsewhere, this Honest Trailer has some funnier observations, including gags that are becoming a tad tiresome in the MCU. They also point out the Scarlet Witch's obsession with her children, and the fact that Doctor Strange (who definitely isn't lonely, remember) fell asleep with an open laptop nearby.

Aside from that, there are the usual complaints about fan service and Marvel Studios setting up future stories. This is all meant in good fun, of course, but we're sure many of you will agree with much of what's pointed out (and probably disagree with a lot of it too).

"Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a one of a kind blockbuster experience and a pure, unadulterated Sam Raimi movie that, while not quite the crazy ride through the Multiverse we expected, delivers a fun, horror-tinged trip," we said in our review of the movie when it was released in theaters back in May.

Check out this Honest Trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness below:

In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Marvel Cinematic Universe unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. We'll journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

The movie's cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Loki Head Writer Michael Waldron.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theaters. It's now available on Digital platforms and Disney+, and hits Blu-ray, 4k Ultra HD, and DVD on July 26.

"Hi-tagor There-tagon"

Easily one of the worst jokes I've heard from the MCU. That was Cow & Chicken level humor from a character that shouldn't be that humorous.

@KWilly - I think even Cow and Chicken was funnier than that

@KWilly - Black Bold DID look amazing in DSMOM though, makes me hold out hope we'll see a proper adaptation of Paul Jenkins and Jae Lee's Inhumans maxi-series.

Right. The entire scene is a [frick]ing disgrace. They should've let her do that to the "What If??" cast at best, but not two top tier MALES, upon their introduction into MARVEL. 10 years ago, I would've thought this was an approved Ike Pearlmutter (or whatever his name is) script, leaked days after his termination.

@VictorAlonzo - It is for that very reason that I absolutely loved that scene as is still one of my favorites (outside of Peggy Carter's death stare... I laughed out loud at that because it just was not intimidating at all). It was another universe and a great homage to just see a glimpse of them on screen, and then blow them away. But what I really took away from that particular scene was that it was great to finally see just how powerful Scarlet Witch is. Can you think of a better way? I thought that was something completely different and unexpected. But at the same time, I also felt it was completely safe only because they had the multiverse "out" if you will. There will be no ramifications from it. So, relax and enjoy it for what it was.

@AgentSmith - Yes, agreed.

Demonstrate how powerful she is and at the same time have some fun giving fans something they might want to see in regards of members of the Illuminati.

It's all in good fun.

@AgentSmith - Those are good points. Perhaps if they put up more of a fight, it would've been a satisfying outcome. It just felt wrong for me.

@CorndogBurglar - Because they can't control what happens in these films, and when their "ideas" aren't met, they behave in what some would call an "immature" fashion by complaining because they didn't get what they wanted (and were NOT owed).

Regarding the word, "immature", I looked it up (and "mature), and while I am not sure if it is being used properly in the initial statement, the above referenced behavior is certainly NOT "mature". I am not knocking those who do this (I have done it), and while this attitude/behavior may not be "immature", it is, again, certainly NOT a "mature" one.

I hope I explained that well enough.

The responses from some fans to how Marvel had Wanda kill the Illuminati really hits home for me how immature some of the audience for this stuff is, and how impossible it must be to conceive a Marvel movie everybody loves, because there are some WIDELY different expectations of what these movies can/can't and should/should not be.

@OmegaDaGrodd - What's immature about people having a different idea of what they want from these movies?

@CorndogBurglar - there's nothing immature about wanting something different, the immaturity comes into play when you see the absurdly self serious reactions to the movies making perfectly trackable creative decisions that actually function like decisions, instead of just maintaining the status quo for the "next adventure"

@OmegaDaGrodd - I don't know that I'd call that immature.

Look at Professor Hulk. They did all the things you mentioned. It's a creative decision that functions like a decision instead of maintaining the status quo.

I hate that decision and think Hulk is seriously suffering from it. I won't hesitate to say it. His character has sucked since Age of Ultron, honestly.

I fail to see how that makes me immature simply because they sat down and thought out a decision that I think sucks.

Am I not following?

OmegaDaGrodd - 7/6/2022, 12:18 PM
@CorndogBurglar - Yea, I'd say you're mistaking "disliking" a creative decision with what I'm referring to, which is the inability to even recognize the merit of a creative decision based on some personally developed criteria for what decisions are "acceptable" for a comic book adaptation.

Case in point, we all love the rampaging misunderstood Hulk, and can even enjoy the domesticated, team member Hulk who is still prone to rage. There's nothing wrong with preferring that to Hulk being largely sidelined as a scientist, especially if you just don't enjoy him being a sidelined scientist. But what's pretty immature is the idea that it is somehow offensive and disrespectful to the character of the Hulk for him to be a largely passive scientist "because he's a badass in the comics", not only because anyone who knows anything about Bruce Banner in the MCU knows how much he hates being the Hulk and can clearly see why the Professor Hulk persona is a perfectly logical narrative conclusion for his character, but also because Professor Hulk is derived from the comics. It's literally a direct adaptation of what Hulk/Banner developed into in the comics.

Same thing with the Illuminati. It totally was unexpected for the first time we see Professor X and Reed Richards in the MCU to be a film where they're all killed fairly quickly, but anyone who understands basic storytelling and a multiverse knows that sometimes stories feature parts that are unexpected. That's how great storytelling often works. And because this is a multiverse movie, we're all supposed to be mature enough to understand that the entire concept is predicated on those characters being different from "our" versions of the characters. And yet, you have people claiming it's "disrespectful" or "lessening the characters" for them to die unceremoniously, as if the people watching the movie have no concept of the above, or the fact that this is not a movie about those characters (not to mention, it's just a clever way to through the audience for a twist by playing on their expectations of what *should* be expected when Reed Richards and Professor X first show up). I don't even consider 'Immature" to be too much of an insult when I say it here, as I'm really just referring to the fact that large portions of the audience of these Marvel movies approach these movies with a narrow minded and often entitled view of what *should* happen in a Marvel movie, and have a strong emotional reaction to these stories not matching up with the expectations they themselves crafted for the movies. Many people watch Marvel movies with a mental checklist, not to experience the unique marriage between a movie studio, a massive budget, a director, a writer, the performers and the comic books that they are loosely adhering to.

If anything I'm just highlighting how sad that limitation is, not complaining that people find themselves in the predicament of having said limitations

I enjoy watching these "Honest Trailers" videos and believe many of the "digs" they stab at the film makers are in good fun.

That being stated, I have 100% faith that Marvel Studios "Knows What To Do With The X-MEN And FANTASTIC FOUR".

I think Marvel knows exactly what they're doing with the Fantastic Four and X-Men. Their respective movies are probably years away, so might as well just start warming up the audience to them by having them appear here and there
