Hasbro revealed its upcoming range of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Marvel Legends action figures earlier today, giving us a first glimpse of "Defender Strange." Now, a shot from the back of the figure's packaging has been shared online (via MCU Direct), giving us a live-action look at Benedict Cumberbatch as the mysterious new take on the Sorcerer Supreme.
It's certainly an interesting look for Strange, and the more prominent white streaks may suggest that this is an older Variant of the character we'll meet in the sequel as opposed to a new costume the more familiar MCU version of the character will don at some point.
This outfit is very similar to one the Master of the Mystic Arts wore in the pages of The Defenders comic book at one point, which would explain the figure's moniker and may indicate that Marvel Studios is planning to have Strange join (or lead) his own Avengers splinter-group at some point.
Plot details for Doctor Strange 2 are still under wraps (if you watched the leaked trailer you'll have a much better idea of what to expect), but the title obviously suggests that the alternate reality-spanning Multiverse will play a big part. Benedict Cumberbatch will return as the Master of the Mystic Arts, and he'll be joined by Benedict Wong as Wong, Rachel McAdams as Dr. Christine Palmer, and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo.
Xochitl Gomez is also set to make her debut as America Chavez, and there's a rumor doing the rounds that a familiar face from Fox's Marvel franchise will be putting in an appearance.
Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness is set to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
