Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness doesn't open in North America until Friday, but the latest MCU adventure has already rolled out overseas, and is off to a very respectable start at the international box office.

Reports are coming in that Sam Raimi's mind-bending sequel conjured-up $27.2 million on opening day in 20 markets, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Korea. It obviously remains to be seen how the movie performs domestically, but ticket sales are pacing only 4% behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is a very good sign.

The film is currently expected to earn between $160 million and $180 million over the weekend.

It's now been confirmed that In The Multiverse of Madness will not be granted a release in Saudi Arabia or China, and while this will undoubtedly impact its global total, it didn't hurt No Way Home in the long run!

The response from critics has been mostly positive (you can check out our verdict here), although the movie certainly has its share of detractors. It currently sits at 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
