Two Big Marvel Studios Trailers Expected To Debut During This Year's SUPER BOWL LVI

We have some news on possible trailer debuts during this year's Super Bowl LVI, and it sounds like Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will definitely want to tune into the football game later this month...

If you're a football fan, chances are you're counting down the days to Super Bowl LVI next Sunday, February 13. But even if you're not, we'd bet you're pretty excited regardless as we always get some big trailers during the game.

Deadline has shared some insight into what we can expect, and it sounds like Disney is once again looking to steal the show. Likely spots include new trailers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Moon Knight, and Pixar's Lightyear. Highlighting the first Marvel Studios movie and TV show of 2022 makes perfect sense, and we're particularly intrigued about the Doctor Strange sequel.

With so many rumoured cameos and a massive audience tuning into the Big Game, dropping a first look at one of the movie's big guest stars - even if would be a spoiler - might just break the internet.

The trade confirms that Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and Apple all plan on giving the event a miss, so don't bank on trailers for the likes of Black Adam and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. For some studios, spending that much money on a TV spot just isn't worth it, though we are a little surprised the opportunity isn't being taken to give The Batman one final push ahead of its March release.

It's worth noting that there are often a few big surprises during Super Bowl weekend, with plenty of trailers dropped online to take advantage of the social media hype.

As always, we'll keep you updated, so keep checking back here for the latest!

Pixar back at the cinema finally. Definitely changes perception of the movies a little to have them drop for free on D+, although they haven't been top of their game last few tries.

@RealTurner - Lucas was okay, Soul was pretty good. But yeah, neither were GREAT to me.

Lightyear looks epic

@KWilly - they’re running low on concepts

@Waddles - while that is true, I guess it’s the concrete forms that the abstract ideas form into that actually keep folks at home (good thing there’s Disney plus). Inside out may have been their last great idea because it had a great execution: those emotions were hilarious! And poignant. But they were colorful too. That appeals to kids. Dead old black guys, no offense, is super not fun, I don’t care how fun it is. On the flip side dinosaurs are great! But I’d rather watch Land Before Time 7: Big Long Necks before rewatching whatever that was with the dog kid. Still haven’t watched Cars 3 which tanked because of me no doubt

@Waddles - I watched onward at a rough time in my life and didn’t really pay attention. My dad had just got cut in half, it was on my mind so much that I have no idea what onward was about

Oh wait it wasn’t that, it was my crumbling marriage.

I do need to watch cars three, the thing is that my kids are not teenagers so they don’t care about the stuff they used to. I kind of don’t either. Since it’s on Disney+ I imagine, I’ll go ahead and watch it today and get back to you

@Waddles - 😂😂😂mission accomplished, onward to the next mission: Cars 3, while driving! Then Onward.

@Waddles - Luca just didn't do it for me. The "world building" was a boring undersea world where he has to shepherd fish (for some reason?), meanwhile everyone including the grandma are just going up onto the land all the time anyway. Hmmmmm. Soul I just despised the "so I got to play my dream gig hummm what next? Oh better eat some pizza!" angle. A simplification for sure, but that core part of it I just can't get behind, especially when coming from animators at the peak of Hollywood it feels like "stay in your lane."

@TheWalkingCuban - You got me with that dad line too! Not to take a turn but my dad actually did pass away in-between seeing the movie for the first time and when I watched it again with my wife. Definitely makes it more intense. The payoff for the splinter is Pixar gold, now that's the kind of clever plotting I love to see from them. But the "we have orcs and fairies and goblins and whatever we want to parody" angle is something used in anime A LOT for literally decades so it doesn't really feel fresh or especially clever to me.

Turning Red? looks pretty cool, anime fans have been on the Ranma comparisons and that definitely takes the shine off it a little; the trailers haven't offered anything that make me thing "okay this will be a great Pixar movie." But then Pixar trailers are normally pretty low key. Fingers crossed. A lot of lower budget or wild card streaming CG animated movies are coming out now, and it doesn't feel like Pixar are keeping ahead of the pack or pushing the envelope quite a much as they once did.

Think we can expect a Doctor Strange and Lightyear trailer. Disney knows Marvel and Toy Story movie sell

Debuting a movie trailer during the Supebowl is almost never worth the money.

There will also be a commercial with Pepper Potts eating a candle that tastes like her vagina.

Even though Marvel wouldn't want to tip their hand so early, imagine if in the Dr. Strange trailer as Strange is traveling through the Multiverse he lands in OUR universe and Iron Man flys in to meet him. Strange says "Tony?". Iron Man flips open his mask and It's Tom Cruise, and he says "Hi Stephen". And the trailer ends there. I think that if they did that and you were quiet enough you could hear the Internets break across the Multiverse.

@StSteven - I feel like Tom Cruise would've been bored, playing Iron Man.😂

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - Maybe not if he insisted that he wear a REAL Iron Man suit and actually fly into the scene, no CGI. That MIGHT pique his interest ;)

I'm cool with those two maybe to early for She-Hulk but I want to see that as well.
