"Strange" News - Batman Doing Marvel Movie?

By the crimson bands of crapola! A story in the New Zealand Times has Batman actor Christian Bale practically signed to play Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange.

Seeing as how you can't get any further away from Hollywood than New Zealand, AND the fact that dark lord Sauron lives there, the likelihood that this story is actually true is suspect. But again, they are a day ahead of us, so this could be quite the scoop!

Here's what they're reporting...

Christian Bale's Strange Role

Christian Bale is set to play another superhero.

The actor - who has played Batman in both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight - is said to be the number one choice to play Dr. Strange in movie studio Marvel's latest comic book adaptation.

A source said: "Christian is hot property right now, courtesy of Batman. Doctor Strange is a very different kind of hero to Batman and it's felt Christian is the sort of actor who can make the part work on screen.

"It is understood a deal could be struck in the coming weeks."

The Welsh-born star "tops the list" of movie bosses to portray Dr. Strange, a former surgeon who becomes a powerful sorcerer after a car accident leaves him unable to perform operations.

Bale also plays hero John Connor in the upcoming Terminator Salvation and has signed on for two more sequels in the science-fiction franchise.

He has also expressed an interest in reprising his role as Batman if a third film is confirmed.

This is CRAP!! There really needs to be some kind of "Comic" clause where someone who plays a comic book character cannot play another for 10yrs. Is Hollywood really lacking in talent so much that they can't find someone else to play this big of a character. And why would Marvel want a DC figurehead as one of their most prominent characters???

As I write this it's making less and less sense, this rumor has got to be false...

*Fearless*--- Are you sniffing glue?? EVERYONE thought RDJ was great as Iron Man! In fact, if Iron Man was real, he would be Robert Downey Jr.! As for Brandon Routh...who knows if he would be good as Superman, he only had about 3 lines!

I'm not 13 like some of the people posting here. An actor can act in anything if they fit.

Bale fits for Steven Strange. Remember him in that bad magician movie, but he worked as a magician.

Anyway I'm a huge Dr. Strange fan and he would be cool, I would like to hear a better suggestion and why. One note, Strange was never based on his look but strictly on what he could do and how he did it, that's one thing different about Strange and many other characters, he doesn't have to have a special look, on the same token he shouldn't look like a douchebag. I think Bale fits this better than John Connor.

Well, my first choice (Ed Norton) is out. I think Bale would do well, had it not been for Batman. At this point, there is no way for audiences to disassociate Bale with Batman, a problem that would only compound with a third film.
At this point, I'd go with someone like Stuart Townsend, with Brad Dourif as Baron Mordo, Uma Thurman as Clea and Randall Duk Kim as the Ancient One.

Wait, so Christian Bale is going to play a hopeless man who goes to a tibetan monastery to train with the world's secret protectors?

That sounds really similar to something else.

hey I know there both made by marvel but nicolas cage is both ghostrider and kick-ass. No one has complained about that and I think it's worse for someone to play more that one character in the same universe.

I think that Bale may be a big actor right now, but I think others will agree that if he were to play any other comic book role right now, it would destroy the batman franchise. People love the new Batman. The only other Batman who come slightly close of doing a good job was Val Kilmer. I agree that new faces should be put in role, however I think that if you hear a rumor about a new sequel or upcoming comicbook movie, go look at the next issue of Wizard. They always do their fake casting calls and I think they do good jobs. Look at the Elecktra issue before Jennifer Garner landed the role. Lots of people thought Catherine Zeta-Jones would have done a great job, and I think if she had got the role, we might be talking of Elecktra rumors.
Just my opinion.

Yeah, using an unknown actor worked so well for Superman Returns! Ha!

This rumor sounds like bunk, but I agree that the same actor shouldn't take on two seminal roles in the same character catagory ... it's nearly impossible for even the best actors to act completely different for 130 minutes.

if youve seen the animated dr.strange movie the origin is more or less exactly the same as bruce wayne's in 'batman begins'. Although i think bale would be great the film would just seem like 'The Prestige' & 'Batman Begins' roled into one. Both of which starred Bale. Just wouldnt make much sense.

nope. dont want it. bale is good for batman, but I just cant see him as Dr. strange.

Raven1986 just reminded me of val kilmer. he might not do bad for the role.

If Christian gets Dr Strange, it just proves what me and my friend have been saying for years. Christian Bale is this generations action star. Personally I like him a lot, but IDK how I would feel about seeing him play another comic book hero.

I think the Jim Caviezel would make a better Dr.Strange..I remember him in a movie called "The Count of Monte Cristo" even then in his "Count" outfit he reminded me of Dr.Strange...have a look..maybe you'll agree or not....:D
