Marvel Studios released terrific new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just before the Super Bowl got underway, and if your attention was mainly focused on the exciting new footage, you may have missed an intriguing detail on the accompanying poster.

The one-sheet features the Master of the Mystic Arts (Benedict Cumberbatch) surrounded by shards of glass representing the many facets of the Multiverse, and several other characters can be glimpsed, including America Chavez, Scarlet Witch, and Mordo. There are also some Variants, and while she's not actually shown, What If...? hero Captain Sharon Carter's shield can clearly be seen on one of the shards.

We've heard rumors that Hayley Atwell will debut as a live-action take on Captain Carter in the movie, and this would appear to confirm her involvement. It could just be a little Easter Egg to get fans talking, but we doubt it!

The trailer also confirmed (well, all-but) that Patrick Stewart will return as Professor Xavier. What other surprises does this insane-looking sequel have in store for us?

In Marvel Studios’ Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stühlbarg, and Rachel McAdams. The film is directed by Sam Raimi, and Kevin Feige is the producer. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Eric Hauserman Carroll and Jamie Christopher serve as executive producers. The screenplay was written by Michael Waldron.

The Doctor Strange sequel releases in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2022.

Not gonna lie, seeing Peggy with Balder and the rest from that leak instead of the classics as the MCU's first Illuminati is gonna be more than a bit of a let down...

loving what i am seeing but man does America Chavez seem like such an odd fit for everything else happening around her - dimension punching powers aside. hoping her performance will get me over the hump tho.

I’m just excited Hayley Atwell gets to stay in the MCU and maybe get her own series or movie as Captain Carter
