Eternals added a lot of new characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (some would say too many), but it sounds like we'll be seeing some of them again sooner rather than later. There have already been rumblings that Richard Madden's Ikaris will return, but he's not the only deceased Eternal who's supposedly going to show up in scenes presumably set in this shared world's past.
There's a rumour doing the rounds (that seemingly originated on a website called Allkpop) alleging that Don Lee will return to the U.S. this summer to shoot scenes as Gilgamesh.
It's unclear what project this would be for, and Marvel Studios has so many TV shows and movies in various stages of development right now that it's impossible to even hazard a guess. In Eternals, we saw Gilgamesh die at the hands of a Deviant to protect Thena; he'd spent thousands of years watching over her after she started feeling the effects of Mahd Wy'ry, so we're betting this will be a flashback.
While Eternals ended on a major cliffhanger setting the stage for a sequel, Marvel Studios now has the opportunity to revisit these characters by expanding on their respective roles in the MCU's history. That's a compelling prospect, and one that definitely has a lot of future storytelling potential.
Gilgamesh was a lot of fun to spend time with and many fans were understandably disappointed when he died. Hopefully, this rumoured mystery role will give Lee another chance to shine.
