At the end of Eternals, Sersi uses her powers to turn Sprite into a human, which will finally allow her to grow old and live a normal life after spending thousands of years stuck in the body of a child. While her immortality has been lost, we don't know whether Sprite is powerless or capable of helping Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos after they were taken from Earth by a vengeful Arishem.
Talking to us last week, we asked actress Lia McHugh what sort of changes she thinks the hero will have gone through by the time she returns to the MCU. "I am so excited for the possibilities of what would happen if they bring her back. I have no idea. I think about it a lot actually," she says in the video below. "Will she be a teenager? Will she be an adult? A rebellious teen who’s terrible and going crazy? I don’t know, but it’s interesting to think about [Laughs]."
We then wondered whether McHugh thinks Sprite will be looking to find her fellow Eternals or if living as a human will be a bigger priority. "I’m not sure. I’m not sure if she does have powers or doesn’t have them, so I’m not sure what she could do to help," she admitted. "I would think she would want to help her family. I feel like especially because she owes them one!"
Another compelling possibility for Sprite is that she tracks down Kit Harington's Dane Whitman and helps with his journey to becoming Black Knight in Blade (the Daywalker's voice could be heard in the post-credits scene, so that appears to be where Dane's story will continue). To that, all McHugh would tell us was, "I love Kit Harington, so that would be a blast! [Laughs]"
Chances are the Eternals star knows what the future holds in store for Sprite, but is too well-versed in that all-important Marvel Studios secrecy to give anything away. She did, however, conclude by telling us, "It’s very exciting! I can’t wait to read the scripts if and when it happens. It’s probably not going to be for a while, but I’m ready for it." Now, we just wait and see what comes next!
Eternals is now available on Digital and will be available on 4K, Blu-ray and DVD February 15.
