Avengers 2 Is Here: 90 Minute Fan Film!

Avengers 2: Rise of the Superior is a fan film that we've highlighted in the past via trailers. Well now those trailers have resulted in a two-hour film that brilliantly edits together footage from different Marvel superhero films to create an all-new adventure.

Awesome movie!!
Some parts were confusing and unexplained but it was expected.
Loved the interaction scenes between characters, like Johnny and Spidey in bar, Iron Man vs Doc Ock!

Soundtrack and score where amazing!! Loved the Intro and the ending!!

Just watched the first part for now but the work that must have went into this is amazing. Its so funny to see the noticeable dip in quality whenever a piece from The FF is shown though:)

I'm sure at some point we're going to get some bashers offering comments, but the important thing to remember is the amount of work these guys put into this -- and it certainly wasn't for monetary gain. It was for their enjoyment and the enjoyment of the fans, and on that level I think it really pays off.
TheDemonHunter
TheDemonHunter - 11/29/2009, 8:33 AM
Nice intro. Looks promising so I'll have to watch the rest. Some of the stuff was just unquestionably bad though, like labeling a shot that has the pyramids at Giza in the background as being in Qatar, or the South America footage from Incredible Hulk being passed off as British Columbia, but we'll see how the rest of it plays.

PITY for the low of the LOW quality when W*NKERINES BORIGINS is shown, but apart from that (lol) [frick]ing amazing fan film, only watched start, watching more right now dammit!!

These guys need a medal!! This must've taken [frick]ing forever!

@ ed

i'll be watching this later. it looks pretty cool from the trailers, but the trailers didn't really say anything, and it kind of didn't make any sense. i'm assuming the finished product has an actual cohesive plot and story?? if so, i'm all for it! i don't usually like the mashup thing, but if done right, they can be very cool!

it was certainly an interesting watch. Who ever made this was certainly passionate about it.
TheDemonHunter
TheDemonHunter - 11/29/2009, 10:15 AM
I just got done watching it. The story wasn't very clear at some points, because of the disparate scenery for the footage used, but I can understand that they're limited by what they had to work with. I think some of the subplots they threw in there were a bit excessive and seemed to be there just to find a way to use the scenes.

Overall I'd say the techniques used were pretty impressive, like to give us views of Iron Man and Doc Ock in the same image, fighting each other briefly, just to give an example. I've done a bit of editing before, so I can certainly appreciate the work that went into this project and the excitement they felt for it. It's not great, but it's no worse than sitting through Ghost Rider or Punisher War Zone.

If you're just interested in seeing some of your favorites on the screen at the same time, I'd recommend it if you have time to kill, but don't try to think too much about the story, or the constantly changing setting for some of the footage will get confusing.

I'm watching this instead of football? Hell yes! The Colts are gonna stomp the Texans anyhow.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 10:58 AM
it was okay. like demonhunter said, there are a lot of parts that are unclear. like what exactly was magneto's whole plan anyway? they never explained what he was doing. i get the aliens coming and everything, but i just don't understand why doc ock, venom, and magneto were teaming up. what were they trying to accomplish?? did i miss something?

most of it was done very well, and i understand the time that went into it, so you have to give props. but a lot didn't make sense, unfortunately.

oh, and spidey vs. wolverine was done very poorly :(

but again, i give props for things like showing spidey and human torch being friends. it was the little things that made this cool :)

@ thwhtguardian

lol, i don't get what brazilianbatman (asshole) and weiner are talking about either. i thought it was most marvel fans' wet dream to have a movie universe where all the marvel characters know each other and interact. why would you not want to see a movie with these characters in it together?? they all know each other and interact in the comics, its not like its a stupid idea? lol

like you said, i guess they're not excited about the avengers movie, lol
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 11:55 AM
@ batmanknight

keep watching, buddy, its got good things AND bad things. i don't want to sound like i'm bashing it, because there are cool things about it, but if this were a real movie with missing plot points like there are, it would be a failure.

and again, you have to give props to the guys that made it for the most part. it really must have taken a long time to do :)
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/29/2009, 12:01 PM
oh, and i think they messed up by not including daredevil. maybe there just wasn't any good clips to fit in somehow? but they could have had a scene with spidey and daredevil having a heart to heart on a rooftop or something. they are close friends after all. but showing spidey and human torch's relationship/friendship was a plus in my opinion. that was probably my favorite part about this :)
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/29/2009, 12:07 PM
yeah the spidey torch moments were cool.

I also liked the part where peter is sitting in a chair in reed's office with wolverine. the way they had him sitting just looked cool.

Oh there were definitely some great moments in there. Like I said, considering what they have to work with, I know first-hand how tough it can be to fit it all together and have it make any kind of sense.

Corndog, I was looking for Daredevil too! Still, it was nice to see Spidey and Torch hanging out.

The bit about Wolverine in a jazz bar... I always had him pegged as more of a rough and tumble biker bar kinda guy, but then again they had what they had there to work with, so you've gotta cut them some slack.

the demon hunter@ it took me long time to get over ,
x men the last standing ovation,( if you have seen that one) and now once again i cant see him in the same light any more, from now on wolverine is a closet jazz fan.

This is just terrible. "Bella Coola, British Columbia"? Seriously? The idiot who wrote that clearly has absolutely no knowledge of Canada or they would know it's not some poverty-stricken third world country. RETARDED. Somebody wasted a lot of time putting together this garbage.
hexkun
hexkun - 11/29/2009, 4:37 PM
Oh and by the way, for those for those of you who fancy yourselves film editors because you blatantly steal sequences from other movies and mash them together, you are not. You are delusional fans who have too much time on their hands and couldn't even begin to edit a real film together.
thwhtGuardian
thwhtGuardian - 11/29/2009, 5:21 PM
it's footage from the hulk...I think we all knew that it wasn't really canada...did you want them to film entirely new scenes? They did the best they could do using footage from the movies, and they've never filmed bella coola so it'd be hard to put footage of it in their FAN FILM.
That's right it's a fan film, not made in hollywood so your gripe is really childish.
Now if this were an actual movie and it made a similar mistake then feel free to blast it...but this was not a real movie and never pretended to be one. It was a very interesting fan project.
EdGross
EdGross - 11/29/2009, 5:44 PM
hexun, I have to disagree with you. My son is 15 and over the past six months or so I've watched him evolve consistently by doing exactly what these guys did -- taking footage from different movies and editing them together; finding just the right moment and tieing it together with something that matches. He's taught himself editing programs, learned to incorporate outside music, to create titles and mask two characters from different movies into the same scene. He now wants to go to college to become an editor.

So on the one hand while this may seem like a waste of time, people who are doing projects like it are actually learning, growing and possibly finding a future for themselves. All of that sounds good to me.
TheDemonHunter
TheDemonHunter - 11/29/2009, 6:21 PM
I wouldn't worry so much about hexkun's responses. He obviously is here to start an argument instead of present any kind of constructive discussion on the topic.

Anyway I think the biggest thing I shake my head about now is labeling the Giza plateau as being in Qatar. The rest of it is obviously a product of the limitations of the footage they had to work with.

When editing from multiple sources for your own personal amusement or interest, it's not like you can just shoot new footage to tie into it. It can be fun to see what you can put together sometimes though. It's definitely a good way to get people started down that path.
