FAN CAST: The First Avenger: Captain America

I cast the three most important characters of this film.

First off, I dont think Ackles should play Captain America cause he has little film experience and I don't think Marvel would cast him. He even has said that nobody from Marvel has contacted him for the role. So here is my pick for Cap, Buck and Red Skull. I also have some second choices for Cap, and Red Skull.

Matt Damon as Captain America

I think Matt Damon is good choice for Cap. He has the acting skills to pull it off. This was certainly his best year as an actor having been in The Informant! and Invictus in which He was in great shape and having earned two Golden Globe nominations for both films. Theres just this thing about his age and height but I think that if Marvel chooses him they will do something to make him look younger (just how they did to Hugh Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and they will also do something to make him look bigger and with that you get the perfect Steve Rogers.

Anton Yelchin as Bucky

Anton Yelchin IS Bucky. One day while reading that Bucky would definitely be in TFACA all of a sudden Yelchin came to my mind and I was like "That guy IS Bucky". Just like Damon, Anton had a great year, having been in two blockbusters that are Star Trek and Terminator Salvation. He was the perfect fit for both Pavel Chekov and Kyle Reese. Another thing that tells me that He IS Bucky is that He is Russian and that can help if Marvel Studios decide to bring back Bucky as Winter Soldier.

Christoph Waltz as Red Skull

Christoph Waltz is another actor that had a magnificent year with his critically acclaim performance in Inglourious Basterds. He probably doesn't want to be typecast as a Nazi but I would love to see him as Red Skull. If He doesn't want to be a Nazi again, I got a second choice for Red Skull.

And now here is my second choice actors for Cap and Red Skull.

Jeremy Renner as Captain America

Jeremy Renner has had a great year with his performance in The Hurt Locker. He has been in talks for Hawkeye but I rather see Sam Worthington as Hawkeye. If Damon doesn't get it I really hope Renner does.

Ralph Fiennes as Red Skull

Ralph Fiennes is my second choice for Red Skull cause look at him as Voldemort....oh pardon me...He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named... Just paint him Red and you got Red Skull. If Waltz doesnt want Red Skull then Marvel should get Fiennes.

And I've been hearing stuff off Captain America being filmed in the UK and probably introducing Union Jack. Well I decided to cast Union Jack

Jason Statham as Union Jack

Why not get the most badass English actor of all time for the part? That's right folks I choose Jason Statham for Union Jack. I dont have to say much of Jason just watch his films Crank, Transporter, and his upcoming 2010 film The Expendables.

Those are my picks for 2011's The First Avenger: Captain America.

I like it all but the most important character. Jeremy is goin to be playin Hawkeye and also doesn't fit the part as cap. And even worse Damon as I a bad idea to me. The most unamerican american actor to play Captain America? I rather have Jason Statham play Cap. I do injoy Damon very much. He is a amazing actor, but just can't be Cap. It would be like having Bill Ayers to play Jesus.

Awesome cast man. Matt Damon and Chris Waltz would completely own the roles of Cap and Skull. I'd definately pay to see that in theaters.

Never thought of Statham as Union Jack. Excellent Fit. And at first, Matt Damon as Cap seemed like such a bad fit. But I'm getting more and more cool with the idea. And everyones on board with Renner as Hawkeye, but I definately saw an actor with depth in (of all things) 28 Weeks Later. I still haven't seen Hurt Locker yet, but with what I hear about his perfomance he could pull the role of Cap.

@RealEnrico-WHAT THE [frick] ARE YOU TALKEN ABOUT. Do you know for a fact that Renner is playing Hawkeye because as far as the rest of us know that is just a rumor. I think he would make a killer CA. How is Damon the most unamerican american. he is an excellent actor and the best pick for CA.

I like Damon and Waltz picks. Those are the best. I'm thinking of writing a story and damon is my pick for CA. Staham sounds like an awesome Union Jack.

Statham is not Union Jack! Man, he's tough and I
like his tough guy movies but Union Jack is a more
sophisticated Englishman! Someone like Gerard Butler
or Daniel Craig.

But Waltz and Damon going at it would be a pure joy to
behold!

If this movie is filmed in the UK it won't be for Union Jack, it will be because it's set during WW2 (partly at least). No point setting it in the USA as WW2 hardly touched there in comparison (no disrespect to the areas that were hit).

Pretty good casting! Cap is a tough one to cast but there are a handful of people I would be happy with and Damon is one of them (not that the film is made just to please me....not yet anyway)

Great cast man, Damon would be a brilliant Cap, the only one I can't see is Statham as Union Jack but the rest are awesome.

@flames- I would never watch that film, Ackles can;t act man.

I would like to thank everyone for their comments on my first fan-cast.

@RealEnrico
Just because Damon is Democrat doesn't mean that He is unamerican. He just has different points of view. Obama is Democrat and He is our President.

@DDD
You're right about Statham, but I think He could pull it off and He came to my mind as Union Jack. But if Statham doesnt get Jack, I would love to see Daniel Craig for Union Jack. But All of this of Union Jack is all a rumor for now.

@flames809
I HIGHLY doubt it that Ackles gets choosen for the part.

Whats does Obama got do with anything? I don't think all democrats are unamerican buut most democrat politions are unamerican. I don't they have america at heart but the care more about they're own agenda. Like heath care. They don't how good it is or whats in it. They just wanted to pass it. So to hell with poeple and its going to affect them. They don't care about the american poeple, but they care how they can use them.

I like the cast but Damon as Cap Iam not to crazy about that.
Ryden
Ryden - 12/31/2009, 6:02 PM
@theRealEnrico- Well Cap (in recent comics) is prodomintley a a deomcratic character. He opposes goverment control, is against the system etc....that's left-wing actions. Also that health care that was passed is a good thing, I live in Scotland and here we have the helath care system you're going to get. Now it doesn't cater to the rich, you don't need to pay to get some medicine, I wouldn't wantto get thrown into the street while I'm having a heart attack just because I don't have enough money.

Also there's no such thing as an un-american america, you're just thinking of an un-republican american. Remember Cap fights for FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY not CONTROL and TRADITION.
TheMalcontent
TheMalcontent - 12/31/2009, 6:22 PM
By definition I would be Democrat. So is Cap, but the not the democrates of today. In this day the democratic party is about more government control more on the side of socialism. Not want the was suposed to be about.

A better regulated would have been good. Now we are forced to get health care. Thats not democratic.

I don't want the government to tell me to do anything.

If would be anything in day in age he would be anything the opposite of the democratic party of to day.

So you are right and wrong at wrong at the same time.
Ryden
Ryden - 12/31/2009, 7:03 PM
@RealEnrico- Well I wouldn't really agree with that. I mean take a well known democrat like...obama....you don't see him saying "We want to go back to the way things were, just like that genius George W Bush"....Democrats are democratic and republicans are conservative..that's the way it is. If you agree with me that Cap is a democratic character then Matt Damon would be perfect since he is obviously democratic.
TheMalcontent
TheMalcontent - 12/31/2009, 10:23 PM
If dont realy understand what I'm saying, I'm saying if that the party line a in reverse. It not realy a opinion to agree with. Its more factual. Its a fact the republican party of today is more anti government than the democratic party.

Democrates are very openly pro government.

Republican are very openly anti government.

I live in america and politics is one of my passions. Politics is very important. I know what I'm talking about. I like to stay informed on both sides.

If I were to be anything(political party wise) I would be a libertarion.

I don't think any party is perfect. Most of them are corrupt and I'm talking about both parties.

I know my history and I know my politics.

But I do agree that Damon is a great actor and could be great in the role.

Happy New Year Ryden and everybody!

RamoneChamone @ MATT DAMON for CAP.... NO FRICKING WAY!!!...hes overexposed himself too much recently, he should stay making BOURNE! ; D

Seriously it seems all the ackles lovers have jumped ship an now its all DAMON! : D

Man i said DAMON back in the CAP POLL days and everyone laughed, lmao!

Still, i reckon it would be best for a total unknown for the role!! But if MARVEL want A-Lister, we all know theres better names out there than DAMON! Nah DAMONS ok sorta.

GUTY @ Luv the BUCKY pic!!

The reason I choose Damon as I stated before, is that he had a great year with The Informant! and Invictus (I recomend you to watch Invictus). I can't think of anyone better than Damon right now cause the guy recieved 2 Golden Globe nominations. But the only one that comes to my mind is Brad Pitt but I just dont see him playing Cap. If you watch Invictus you'll see why I want Damon as Cap cause he was a great captain for the rugby team, he showed great leadership and I think he would be a great leader for The Avengers. And thanks for the Bucky comment. I really see Yelchin as Buc.

BTW I have always been onboard for Damon as Cap. I never saw Ackles as Cap.

TheMalcontent - 1/2/2010, 2:54 AM
LEE@ I agree. I do think Matt's a good actor but I would say no to him playing Cap. You right, it does seem like all of the Ackles lovin weirdos are on the the Damon train now.

Ackles and worthington are whores to the industry...that said, so is ryan reynolds.lmao....
My mate said the guy who played Kirk in the new startrek film would be good as cap???...we both agreed the guy who played harvey dent in the dark knight wouldnt be too bad, hes got the whole cap persona about him :D
