Alright everyone, I hope your in the mood! The objective here is to swap heroes. We are going to choose actors/actresses who should/could have played a better version of another Hero and then find a role for the actor that has been swapped. The catch, all actors need to be from a CBM. If the actor is being swapped out of a role but has performed in multiple CBM's then you do not need to swap him to another hero. Examples would be Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans. You can not leave an Actor jobless but you can eliminate a Character from a film. Thus if you leave a role empty it needs to be a role with little significance. Basically, you can't take the actor who plays Superman from a film and not cast someone new.
You can include CBM's from any era, as well as ones that are in current production/post-production.
I'll start with several roles I would have changed but what i really want, is to see who you swap? The objective is to create discussion yet have a good time. Lets do some swapping!!!
So, lets start this off strong. I'm a Hugh Jackman fan, he can do no wrong in my eyes. While Wolverine was a Disappointment, he delivered as he always does. Now this is the character that defines his career and that he redefined in the eyes of the public. He never failed in his performance which is especially impressive when you realize that it was also his breakout role. Although I can't help but feel he would be much better in another role. Batman!
Jackman is 6'2 and when preparing for the role of Wolverine he goes up to 210 lbs and then drop to 190-195 to optimize his Definition. His physical appearance is perfect for the role and he has more then enough range to play the tormented yet focused Bruce Wayne. He has great control over his voice and is a fantastic character performer. I feel he could have taken this character to another level and is my number one choice when it comes to a swap.
Now I just took Christian Bale's Job so I'm gonna have to get him something new. That's fine, he again has the chops to play many heroes. He has the range and devotion to deliver any character from a comic and add a flair that does not destroy the characters essence. He gives a flair of Confidence and arrogance naturally, as well as a level of will power to bring forth his performance. The man is 6'0 and dropped down to 120 lbs for a film to turn around and gain 100 lbs for Batman. Dedication indeed. He also has the look that at any moment he may snap. Hal Jordan Green Lantern!
He has that "Arrogant but with reason" look. IMO that is exactly who Hal Jordan is. While I am a Reynolds fan, he never felt right. I'm sure the films tone would have also changed much around how Bale would portray the character. It is clear that there were many re-writes that attempted to fit Reynolds style. In the end we would have a serious film and a strong, well acted version of the character. I can also see the chemistry between Strong and Bale being powerful on film.
I've left Wolverine un-cast now! How will they ever make a successful film if there star is not present. Well I got somebody for the role. He's Short, tough, tormented and can be rugged and filled with rage if needed. Tom Hardy!
They list Tom Hardy as 5'10 on a few locations but next to actors of the same proclaimed height he seems to fall short by an inch or 2. In fact on set with Bale as bane he seems 3-4 inches shorter. With both in lifts, it seems he is probably at 5'9-5'8 flat. He can put on great muscle tone and frame and has shown the personality of a tough as nails maniac in "Bronson" as well as a cool headed elite in "Inception." A little more rage to his roles and we have a perfect Wolverine.
Now we have no Bane for the Upcoming Nolan "The Dark Knight Rises." That's fine, I have someone in mind. Kevin Durand!
He's 6'7, can easily go up 15 lbs and look like a beast and has acting range. He even did a very convincing Hispanic accent in Butterfly effect, as the Religious inmate that helps get Ashton Kutcher to his diary. He could have been directed into glory as Bane.
As for the role of Blob in X-Men Origins.....drop it! There was no purpose for him in the film. Less of the pointless characters would have created a much more solid plot.
Alright, those are my swaps(all men) lets see yours... ;)
Hope you enjoy the swap party! I know I will...
