Iron Man 3 Trailer: "Oh yeah and one more thing..."

The Iron Man 3 Trailer has been discussed and analyzed but I wanted to take my own obsessive spin on the analysis. Sound off in the comments if you agree or disagree or can add more value to the analysis for better hypotheses.

After watching the trailer 10 times, and pausing frequently ( and avoiding finishing my applications for Graduate School) I have come to interesting observations.

[Edit>Some of this (like the non-magical 10 rings piece) has already been elaborated by Kevin Feige but I feel there is more to speculate.

1) I do not think SBK is the voice after the half way mark of the trailer (the "teacher"). I believe that the voice is Guy Pearce (and I could further that by saying that perhaps his voice is augmented by a "suit"). Can someone confirm this with any fact because I have seen a lot of web circulations that this is SBK's voice but don't know where it was actually sourced from.

2) At the 1:00 mark you see the 10 rings up close. I believe these are represented in a mixture of Arabic Numerals and possibly other derivations of eastern numerals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_numerals. This shot of SBK as Mandarin shows him with the 10 rings on (but no gems). I would wager that it's still remains true that he may not possess it's Makluan powers like the comics as it may confuse viewers with the infinity gems (http://marvel.wikia.com/Mandarin's_Rings). However, in the shot where he cocks his handgun he is not wearing the rings so don't know if there is a significance. I do believe he will be very non "magical" as Kevin Feige stated.

3) The scene with the child walking to a vigil with scorch marks on the walls (of people) may be either (a)post NYC Invasion scene or (b) flashback of the villain. I believe it's (a) considering all the flowers left for different scorch marks.

4) At the 00:52 mark you see someone in the rubble post an "attack" or explosion. This seems to be Happy Hogan on the ground bloodied, and this could be his death scene which would tie to the whole plot synopsis of Mandarin attacking Tony's "world."

5) At the 1:01 mark you see the Iron Patriot crashing someone on the table. This doesn't seem very Rhodie Like so it's safe to assume this is someone else but I may be wrong. Wouldn't make sense for it to be Eldrich Killian's character but that would tie into #1.

1) Shane Black said at #SDCC that Sir Ben Kingsley did something very special to his voice. He's gave the voice over.

2) I thinking that the rings compose of rare stones. It may amplify beams of light, and therefore can act as an alternative to the arc reactor. Remember, Coldblood-7 and Firepower are in this movie as The Mandarin's army and they need a power source.

3) I think it's related to the (#4). Best bet is: The Mandarin (who places his hand on the shoulder of businessman) and Aldrich Killian (the "businessman"/scientist) have attacked Miami on the same day as the Air Force One attack. Most importantly, given Coldblood-7's background as a former veteran turned cyborg, because of the military serviceman memorial, I believe he may be the man walking through the wreckage with the torn pants. The Mandarin is recruiting his army with an "blame-it-on-the-government" campaign.

4) Happy Hogan moved away to Miami, as inferred by the #SDCC footage of him video calling Tony Stark. Now he's a Secret Service agent for the President's visit?

5) You're right, that entire sequence seems really off. We know that the armors are becoming more self-aware. However, the Iron Man armor is rescuing the President, whereas Iron Patriot is attacking. Aldrich Killian is most likely responsible for hacking into Iron Patriot. Now, I'm curious as to whether or not the President was in the air because he's traveling or because Miami was threathened to be leveled.

2) One more thing: The Mandarin probably doesn't have his rings when he cocks his gun because he took them off and placed them in the "heart" of his armored army.

The one thing i can figure after a close inspection is that the symbols on The Mandarin's rings are similiar to that of the writing seen in each circle on the banners/flags of The Ten Rings terrorist organization from IM1, which could mean that not only has the group, The Mandarin and his rings have been around before Tony became Iron Man, but that they seem to have taken inpsiration from the rings symbols, whatever they may mean.

I assumed (I know, I know!) that the ten rings referenced ten terrorist cells around the world. And that those who kidnapped Tony were one of the ten based in Afghanistan.

I often wondered if Hammer tech was one based in the US or maybe AIM are??

So in effect the rings are the source of his power - as this is how he operates.

I also think dreams, memories and subconscious are gonna play a big part in this film so many of sequence we see in the trailer may not be 'real'. The scorch marks on the wall is a case in point. Although those scorch marks of people did remind me of Hiroshima aftermath footage so I did wonder if it's a reference to radioactive man??

I swear I read or saw set pictures of them making that memorial with the scorch marks. I'm pretty sure it's from a terrorist attack not from the Avengers.

@95 Thanks for taking the time to elaborate. I didn't catch the footage from SDCC so it's interesting that the voice was truly SBK. More kudos to him for creating such a personality in the voice but you have to admit that it has a hint of Guy Pierce if you listen carefully.

I'm really at a loss about the magic being used in this film because Feige had said that Mandarin won't be tying into any Alien power. And there would have to be so much back story to involve such unique "magic" to the Mandarin. I'm starting to wonder if the memorial scene was him as a child (eg. Bane from TDKR haha) which sends him into this world domination trajectory .

Great insight into Happy Hogan, and I think the scene of Iron Patriot taking down a MIB is probably Happy as Secret Service. I think the person walking around barefoot isn't Coldblood...I believe it may be a survivor or maybe Tony. It wouldn't make sense for Coldblood to attack in the suit and then be barefoot without armor in the next scene coming back to Happy Hogan...it seems like a scene of 'discovery' of Happy's death.
