Alright, this is my first fan cast, so i decided to do the most legally absorbed superhero today: SUPERMAN.
First off, I just want to say that my vision of the Superman franchise should have some elements of the original Superman movie, as that was done, in my opinion, close to perfection.
Up first: JOR-EL.
Ewan McGregor
,
I think he has the same kind of regal presence that served Marlo Brando so many years ago. He is very talented, and can play a mentor type, as seen in the new Start Wars trilogy, where he played Obi Wan Kenobi.
LARA VAN-LORN
Jaime King
,
King played Goldie in Sin City, opposite of Mickey Rourke, and I'm not sure who the greater actor was. She was mesmerizing, while holding a sense of mystery, which I think is essential for Kal-El's mother.
CLARK KENT - SUPERMAN
Now, for this I have three choices:
Brandon Routh - As for Superman Returns, if you hated it, or loved it, one thing that seems unanimous is Brandon Routh's depiction as Superman. I think if he had the ability to make the character his own, he would completely pown it.
James Caviezel - The only reason Bryan Singer didn't cast him as Superman in his film is because he thought he was too famous from The Passion of the Christ. That was 6 years ago, and he hasn't made too much of a splash since. I think he's a tremendous actor and would bring a unique spin to the Superman mythos.
Matt Bomer - Going off of the TV show White Collar, it is easy to see how he is a good contender. As Neal Caffrey, he goes undercover in almost every episode, moving from the character of Neal to whoever he has to be. He would make a completely believeable Clark Kent, as well as a powerful Superman.
LOIS LANE
Rachel McAdams
,
Her performance in both Mean Girls and Sherlock Holmes has convinced me that she is perfect for Lois Lane. Sherlock Holmes saw her as quick-witted, sassy, and having nerves of steel. Mean Girls proved she could be a bit of bitch, as can Lois Lane.
JIMMY OLSEN
Bret Harrison
,
Bret Harrison has played the geeky, awkward kid on TV shows such as Grounded For Life, and Charlie in That 70's Show. He would be able to pull off the "oh gawsh" aura Jimmy Olsen gives off.
LEX LUTHOR
Billy Zane
,
Alright, despite looking like Superman's arch foe, he has the intimidating acting style that's scary as hell! If you don't believe me, check out the Deep End on ABC, where he plays the boss to five new lawyers. It's just Lex Luthor in a law office.
LANA LANG
Alicia Witt
,
A very unknown actress who would be able to play Lana's farm girl attitude without a problem.
JONATHAN AND MARTHA KENT
John Hurt and Glenn Close
,
,
Both are phenommenal actors who would own every scene as Ma and Pa Kent.
PERRY WHITE
Hugh Laurie
,
Yes, yes I know he is a fan favorite for Perry White, and it does seem cliched, but let's face it: there's no one else better! Laurie is gruff, but can be sensitive, as seen on House. Plus he's never really had a major movie role (unless you count Stuart Little, but really, who does?)
And finally, the major villian of the first movie...
BRAINIAC
Hugo Weaving or Billy Crudup
Weaving played V in V for Vendetta and was praised as the charismatic, border-line insane visionary. It is that presence I believe Brainiac should have.
Billy Crudup was Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen. He was very believeable as the "monster" detached from humanity. This is who Brainiac is. A super smart, uncaring alien.
All right, tell me what you think! :D
Peace out, hombres!
