My Plot Proposal for The Incredible Hulk 2

My Plot Proposal for The Incredible Hulk 2

I've never really been a big proponent of a sequel to The Incredible Hulk. But recently, I've had an idea for a sequel that I just had to share. Hit the jump to find out a interesting way that a standalone film for Ruffalhulk could work into the MCU. My plot idea contains SPOILERS from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

My Plot Proposal for Incredible Hulk 2

(Again, this contains SPOILERS OF Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

Allow me to preface this by saying that I'd honestly prefer to see a Dr. Strange or Black Panther film as opposed to a sequel to The Incredible Hulk. That said, Ruffalhulk was so awesome in Avengers and it would be a shame to only see him in installments of The Avengers. But if the big green guy got a sequel, this is how I would like to see it happen.

In the aftermath of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and HYDRA’s big coming out party, S.H.I.E.L.D. is in shambles and the responsibility of looking after all of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s dangerous captives has fallen to the federal government. Because of the recent disgrace of S.H.I.E.L.D., the government decides it’s necessary to have a hearing for each of the prisoners to determine the validity of their incarceration. This includes Dr. Samuel Sterns.

In San Francisco, we are introduced to Rick Jones who, in the MCU, is a like a modern day Julian Assange. He’s been on a mission since The Incredible Hulk to expose the criminal actions of General Thaddeus Ross. As a team sent by Ross tries to apprehend Jones, there’s a chase sequence reminiscent of the Favela scene from the previous film. This scene culminates when Jones runs in a dark warehouse where the Hulk is hiding and makes quick work of the pursuers.

Back in D.C., Sterns, who has been in some form of stasis since the events of The Incredible Hulk (as seen in “Fury’s Big Week”), has been using his vast intellect to predict the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. and his inevitable hearing. Being super-intelligent, he knows how to manipulate the committee and is eventually set free. Then, he convinces the committee that because S.H.I.E.L.D. played a role in the containment of Emil Blonsky (aka The Abomination), that he too deserves a hearing. Sterns is a chief witness at Blonsky’s hearing arguing for his freedom. General Ross is used as another important witness trying to compel the committee to continue Blonsky’s incarceration. During the hearing, Ross and Sterns “butt heads”, and Sterns develops a grudge against Ross.

At the conclusion of the hearing, it is determined that Blonsky is to be set free but obviously cannot be released to the public in his current state (even though it isn’t clear in the MCU, I’ve taken the liberty that like in the comics, Blonsky is permanently stuck as The Abomination.)
Sterns then convinces the committee to allow him try to rehabilitate Blonsky and revert him to his human state; then, Sterns travels with Ross to Blonsky’s holding cell in Alaska. Because of his assignment to rehabilitate Blonsky, Sterns has ample scientific resources sent with him. Upon arriving to the holding facility, however, it’s revealed that Ross has no intentions of surrendering Blonsky to Sterns (this is partially heroic but also cowardly because he’s still actively trying to conceal having given Blonsky the super-soldier serum in the past). Ross then orders the security detail with them, to restrain Sterns. At this point, through some nonspecific ambiguous mental ability, Sterns subdues the security officers and eventually captures Ross and his team.

It is then revealed that Sterns has a hidden agenda as well. In reality, he’s been in league with Roxxon Oil promising them that through Gamma radiation, he can convert a human body into an inexhaustible energy source (it is later revealed that Roxxon influenced the committee that released him). Sterns uses the captured security team as Guinea pigs in his experiments. Ross is forced to look on as the members of his team are experimented on and die as a result. Ross (who is now in a crazed state) is the last subject to be experimented on and as a result of the experiment, transforms into Red Hulk. Sterns's intentions were to create a human with the power to generate heat that could be utilized as an energy source – hence, the Red Hulk’s heat generation powers.

Sterns cannot restrain Red Hulk who is now rampaging around the facility. In an effort to subdue Red Hulk and escape, he releases the Abomination. We are then treated to some gratuitous scenes of Red Hulk vs. Abomination action that ends in Red Hulk decapitating Abomination. Sterns escapes.

Red Hulk realizes that Banner is the only one who understands Gamma radiation enough to change him back so seeks out Jones in San Francisco to find out Banner’s location. While in San Francisco, Red Hulk is surprised to find that Banner has been hiding out with Jones. Upon the sight of another Hulk, the “other guy” can’t be contained and Banner is at the mercy of the Hulk. More gratuitous fight scenes ensue and we get the iconic Hulk vs. Red Hulk San Francisco fight scene.

I could continue, but this is only a plot idea and not fan-fiction. From this point, Hulk and Red Hulk would team up to stop whatever evil plan Sterns and Roxxon has cooked up. I think this would be a logical way to work these characters together and still fit with what’s going on the MCU. If you liked this write up then please thumbs. If not, let me know what you’d do differently.

Either way, Thanks for reading!

I liked most of the ideas but I think that a sequel should only take some of these ideas. The next movie has to not only continue the stories in place but also continue developing the character and I have an idea that would be veyr logical and introduce a lot of new elements. Your idea fits well with mine aside from some things.

This is a really good idea and I like it but it seems like Bruce Banner/The Hulk doesn't really feature a whole lot in the story. You'd need to find a way to have him more involved in the first half of the movie.

Other than that though, this is definitely a movie I would go see! Good work!

really hope the leader, rick jones, doc sampson, and one more villain are in it(NO ABOMINATION! I'd take either red hulk or absorbing man)

Most Hulk 2 ideas seem to just be a way to throw a bunch of villains in there.

But yeah, there's an amazing lack of Hulk in this Hulk story.

Agree. Not enough Banner and Hulk. Would love to see Red Hulk. Its too early to kill off the Abomination, because we dont have enough villains established yet. Red Hulks not really a villain. A villain to Hulk for the most part, but not really to the rest of the MU. Loved what he did to the Watcher though. Lol. Why is Rick Jones in this? It seems like an attempt to just get the character in there, and then hes gone. Hes one of Hulks closest allies. It wouldnt be hard to flesh out the story with more Jones. Have Abomination at a later point go after Betty for revenge against Ross for his current state, and then have Ross kill him later. Not now though. Fun write up.

Great story, I personally think a very loose adaptation of PLANET HULK would work best.

Ruffalhulk? Really?

Better off doing an Iron Man & Hulk team up. Take advantage of RDJ before he leaves the role, and ease the audience into Ruffalo as a lead actor.

Iron Man and Hulk versus the Leader and Ghost. General Ross will be aiding Tony Stark, but secretly using Stark to find Banner (who no longer has Shield to back him up). Tease Red Hulk in the after credit scene, and then once Hulk gets his own film, he can battle big Red.

@TheLibrarian, @ruadh, @WYLEEJAY , I agree that Banner should be more prevalent. I wasn't writing a script. He would definitely be in the film more. This is just what would go on else where. I meant to address that but I forgot.

@highflyer, I didn't come up with that.

@Humby, I considered that too. But I had to resist just throwing in characters. I thought it would be cool for Justin Hammer to be freed and working for Roxxon.

We have 2 unrelated Sterns in this universe, dont we?

This should be Hulk 3 rather than 2 with 2 being Planet Hulk

this is impressive for how plausible it sounds

Mm......while I did like Hulk in Avengers, and liked Ruffalo as Banner, and liked TIH, I'm just not sure about another standalone Hulk movie. I agree with some others that a teamup might be better, although I wonder if RDJ would be willing to do it (he's only signed for 2 Avengers movies, so they would have to alter his contract or sign him to a new one.) I definitely do NOT want to see Planet Hulk. That just sounds dumb to me, one of those ideas that work in a comic book but would not translate well to a movie.

I can't say that I like this idea either. For one thing, I have the feeling that it will be revealed in AoS that either Hydra will take control of that facility (probably releasing some prisoners to either work for them now or just cause general trouble while keeping others, like Blonsky and maybe Sterns, to use later at an opportune moment), or a group of loyal Shield agents will be allowed to maintain control of it by the U.S. government, since no other agency is really capable of dealing with those prisoners. And, as others have pointed out, this Hulk movie doesn't seem to have much Hulk in it. I also just don't really have any desire to see more Hulks, either Red Hulk or She-Hulk or any other color Hulk. This is why I'm not sure about a Hulk movie, because you almost have to give him some huge monster to have a worthy physical opponent, but that gets repetitive. So I don't really know a good way to go about it.

I would love to see Absorbing Man done properly. Crusher Creel is such an awesome villain. I didn't like what they did to him in the Ang Lee Hulk film. I want to see Radioactive Man too. The best villains are the ones that branch into other Avengers stories in the books.

Radioactive Man.
Thor
Iron Man
Hulk

Absorbing Man.
Thor
Hulk

Wrecking Crew
Almost everyone

Modok.
Captain America
Iron Man

Crossbones
Grim Reaper
Taskmaster
Serpeant Society

Enchantress and Executioner! I could keep going. So many good villains to choose from.

Great idea but I have two issues with it.

1. It Bruce Banner and Hulk don't have enough screen time
2. I would rather Red Hulk's true identity be a mystery like in the comics.

I like it. I find it interesting.
I like the inclusion of Red Hulk but i think his identity from the comics should remain intact.

I would also love A.I.M. to be included in an Incredible Hulk sequel.

Yes I agree with this and Hulk 2 should open up an Easter Egg for another Marvel hero with the after credits scene
