X-Force
Craig Kyle and Chris Yost's X-Force was the epic and bloody run that got me reading comics again after a long hiatus. The themes present within the pages were very much adult and very dark. That's how I love my comics. Here is my X-Force:
Wolverine
Kim Coates
Does he look too old? Maybe. But Wolverine is the oldest character on the team and I want him to look that way. I love Kim Coates on Sons Of Anarchy; I think he has the perfect combination of crazy and caring to make a great Wolverine. He would do well playing the reluctant leader of this band of killers. Maybe it's the way he is written in the films, but I've always found Hugh Jackman's performance as Wolverine to be rather wooden. I think Coates would do better.
X-23
Jamie Alexander
I will defend this casting choice to the death. I love Wolverine's younger, sexier clone and I love the young and sexy Jamie Alexander. It's a fanboy's wet dream, and she has the acting talent to make it even better. I want to see her running around with claws killing tons of bad dudes. For more Jamie Alexander, watch Kyle XY or Thor.
Archangel
Sam Worthington
Dye his hair blonde and we have our Archangel. I love what Kyle & Yost did with the character and I love the villain Rick Remender has turned him into. I've always liked Sam Worthington, and I think he would bring a fun menace to the big screen as Apocalypse's favorite Horseman.
Domino
Maggie Siff
Cut her hair and dye it black, I want Siff for Domino. She is another brilliant candidate from Sons Of Anarchy. I have only ever seen her in a serious role, but I think she would have fun bring Domino's unique brand of crazy and carefree attitude to the big screen.
Vanisher
Francis Capra
I love Francis Capra's work on Veronica Mars; he has a knack for comedy, which is essentially Vanisher's role on this team. He is forced into X-Force because Elixir gives him an inoperable brain tumor, and he is often tortured by his teammates, especially X-23.
Wolfsbane
Rachel Hurd-Wood
Rachel was adorable in Peter Pan almost a decade ago, but I haven't seen her in anything since then. She would make an excellent Wolfsbane.
Elixir
William Moseley
You will probably recognize Moseley from the Narnia movies. I picked him because he looks the part, minus gold face paint, and he doesn't have to do much in an X-Force movie, just run around and heal people and make scared noises when fight scenes happen.
Warpath
???
I'm going to be honest with you: I have no freaking clue who this guy is. I made an X-men fan cast file on my computer 2 years ago and this photo was in it labeled "Warpath." I know this is a Native American actor and he does martial arts. Beyond that I am drawing a blank.
Cyclops
Scott Porter
Scott Porter can act the hell out of anything. Anybody who watched Friday Night Lights knows that. He is also a huge comic book nerd. He is my ideal Cyclops. He wouldn't be in the movie much, just tiny appearances as X-Force's mission controller.
And now, the villains...
The Purifiers
Religious fundamentalism depicted in any way draws controversy. People who give in to the controversy and make compromises because of it are spineless cowards (I'm looking at you, Chris Weitz. You are the reason I may never see the His Dark Materials Books as a film series). However, the Purifiers are my favorite X-men villains and they figure prominently into X-Force's history, so they need to be done justice on screen.
Reverend William Stryker
Chris Cooper
I will see just about anything Chris Cooper is in. I just love him. I think he would make an exceptional Reverend Stryker. I've always imagined Stryker having a Southern drawl in his voice, which Cooper usually does, so that's also a plus.
Matthew Risman
Rider Strong
Ok, when you stop laughing, you'll realize that Rider looks exactly like him. He's the right age, and I always thought he was the most talented cast member of Boy Meets World. He would do well as Stryker's right-hand man, who eventually takes the center stage when Stryker is killed.
Bastion
Ed Harris
Ed Harris is one creepy-looking dude. Just look at him. How can he not play Bastion? 'Nuff said.
Feel free to share your thoughts about this fan cast. Next up: another Kyle & Yost brainchild, the New X-men!
