After the Marvel Comics event called Civil War, the new Thunderbolts were tasked with tracking down and arresting individuals avoiding the Superhuman Registration Act. Despite the new line-up, many of the themes of the original series continued.

In particular, Songbird's decision to cripple Bullseye in retaliation for the villain crippling the super-hero Jack Flag, Norman Osborn's own struggle for redemption as he claimed, and the growing friendship between Songbird and Radioactive Man. Moonstone was made team leader, a move that proved to be disastrous and ultimately led to Songbird resuming control over the team and expanding the group's missions to involve regular super-hero missions besides hunting down unregistered super-heroes.

John C. McGinley as Norman Osborn/Green Goblin

GreenGoblin

Best known as the Green Goblin, one of Spider-Man's greatest enemies. Norman has the world fooled into thinking he is simply a business leader.

Ali Larter as Dr. Karla Sofen/Moonstone

Moonstone

Dr. Karla Sofen is a founding member of the "heroic" Thunderbolts and former member of the Masters of Evil.

Cameron Diaz as Melissa Gold/Songbird

Songbird

Songbird is a founding member of the original Thunderbolts, and is formerly known as the super villain Screaming Mimi.

Timothy Olyphant as Venom (Mac Gargan)

Venom

Mac Gargan (Scorpion) became the next host of the Venom Symbiote as he thought it would give him the advantage he needed in defeating Spider-Man

Michael Fassbender as Bullseye

Bullseye

The deadly assassin is capable of using anything as a lethal projectile weapon with flawless accuracy. He is one of the most psychotic and sadistic characters in the MU.

Anton Yelchin as Robbie Baldwin/Penance

Penance

After being given kinetic energy based powers, Robbie Baldwin became Speedball. After the tragedy at Stamford, Baldwin was overcome with guilt leading him to take a new identity as Penance.

John Cho as Chen Lu/Radioactive Man

RadioactiveMan

Lu exposed himself to small doses of radiation until able to withstand a massive barrage. Becoming a living "Radioactive Man".

Wentworth Miller as Andreas von Strucker/Swordsman

Swordsman

Andreas Strucker was the third Swordsman, a former member of the Thunderbolts. He is believed to have been killed by Norman Osborn.

So thats it, let me know what you think in the usual place! Thanks for reading!!!

The only one I don't like is McGinley as Osborne. The rest are solid.

I actually like McGinley as Osborne.
He looks like Osborne from the comics!
And he can play an antihero well.

Great cast Josh@!

I don't car for Miller. I like the rest.

DDD: I agree, I think he would kick it as Osbourne.

JoshWilding - 1/1/2010, 5:05 PM
TYLER & HAWKS: Thanks guys! :)

DDD: Cheers mate! I completely agree - he is the spitting image of the comic book Norman Osborn...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I loved Willem Dafoe in Spider-Man but I also think that McGinley would be great in the role - it may be a comedy for the most part but Scrubs proved that he can play a villain to a certain extent, lol!!

Oh, and guys - if you have a copy of Thunderbolts #114 lying around, check out the letters page! :D

I love McGinley as Osborn, I used him ages ago ;)

Awesome Moonstone

Not too sure on Songbird but it’s not a terrible choice

I like the Gargan Venom pic

Still not to keen on Fassbender as Bullseye

Interesting Penance choice

Not to sure on your radioactive man

I like Miller as Swordsman

Great cast tho man ;)

John Cho as RADIOACTIVE MAN! = epic

I'm not a fan of Ali Larter, I think
katherine heigl would be a much better choice, I also think she would be great for Ms. Marvel

Timothy Olyphant is a GREAT choice for venom. He is a great actor!

Penance..do you think he could pull off that character?
he was great in Star Trek..but I'm not sure? I need to see him in more films before I agree.

but like always GREAT CAST... OF COURSE!
THEHAWK
THEHAWK - 1/1/2010, 8:31 PM
Not bad, my only problems are with Yelchin as Pennance and Ali Larter as anything other than Ms. Marvel!

SHe is the only person that can pull off Ms Marvel.

Oh adn I love your Osborn pick! I would have never thought of him, but he is perfect! He could easily pull off Osborn's insane nature.

THEHAWK - 1/1/2010, 8:37 PM
Wow! Your collection of castings has grown!

I need to release some of mine to catch up. I have a new Mutants, an X-Force, another Superman, and a Thundercats one ready to go... if Jen will make the pics for me, its hard to use photoshop with one arm lol

McGinley as Osborn i think is great but his acting is different than osborn so it would be a bit weird seeing him as osborn

but great cast

Great cast Josh!!! I just don't like your Osborn (but I could come around) or Songbird choices... but otherwise GREAT CHOICES!!! I think I've read #114 (Love the Thunderbolts), but I'll don't actually have it, if I ever find it again I'll check out the letters page.
DogsOfWar
DogsOfWar - 1/1/2010, 11:16 PM
Great choices with one exception Josh. McGinley can definitely pull off Gobby. He played some psycho in a Dean Koontz movie I think so he can go dark.

Don't like Diaz for Songbird, I just don't see her pulling off any supe really though.

Not too crazy about some of em, but I do like your choice for gobby!
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 1/2/2010, 3:31 AM
Ryden: Thanks - I didnt know that you had picked McGinley as Osborn as well! Great minds think alike huh? :)

MTL: I get your point about Diaz's age but I still think she could pull it off! And Cho is a little too young but he's such a brilliant actor (see FlashForward) I dont think that would end up all that big a deal! Glad you like the rest though, thanks!

1chris2: No worries, lol! Glad you like at least one though!

PETE: Thanks a lot man! Personally I can only see Katherine Heigl as the regular Ms. Marvel so I agree with you there! I'm pretty sure that Yelchin could pull off both sides of the character (Speedball/Penance) especially after seeing his two different and great performances in Star Trek and Terminator: Salvation!

THEHAWK: Thanks dude! :D I see Larter as the Dark Ms. Marvel (who is also Moonstone) but I just cant see her as the regular version (though I definitely wouldnt complain if she were in fact cast in that role!) Im really glad that you like the Osborn pick - I wasnt sure how well it would go down but I'm really pleased its getting a pretty decent reaction, lol!

And yeah, my casting list does seem to have grown pretty quickly!! Its slowed down a bit now though as I'm sort of running low on ideas! :P I do have at least 10 that I'm working on at the moment though but I dont know when I'll get around to finishing them though as I'll be pretty busy with this project me, LEE, TYLER and DDD are working on together! I look forward to seeing more of your casts though and get well soon mate!

Anil Rickly: Yeah, thats why I chose to base this cast off Ellis' run - I had never really liked the title all that much before but as you say, its been almost non-stop brilliance since Civil War!

As well as this role, I also think that Larter would make a great Emma Frost! I definitely agree with you about Yelchin though - the main reason I chose him was because I think he could do a great job of pulling off Speedball AND Penance!

tyko450: Cheers! It might take a little getting used to especially as I for one am used to him playing a more comedic role in Scrubs, but I honestly think that if he pulled it off it would be one hell of an amazing performance!!

NightAvenger4: Well, thats less than half so no worries, hehe! Thanks!

CRITIC: Lol, thanks man! It was a proud day having a letter printed in that issue!! ;D

DogsOfWar: Thanks bud! :) I completely agree with you about McGinley and I get your point about Diaz...however, I have a feeling she could pull it off!

THEPHEONIX: Thanks! I'm just glad you like that one specifically as I really wasnt sure what kind of reaction that choice would get!

John McGinley has played a villain and antihero
in a lot of movies!

Check out ON DEADLY GROUND with Steven Seagal and Michael Caine.

McGinley is perfect as Osbourne in my opinion!

Sorry man, coulldnt get in your fan casting sooner, had to wipe my whole [frick]ing PC, had bugs or something lol.

Hmmmm not loving SCRUBS boy for OSBORN, if ya gonna recast best use a younger guy, although DAFOES a perfect older OSBORN, would say a hell no replacing him, its like replacing HUGH JACKMAN lol. Ive cast him before as the leader of the GREAT LAKE AVENGERS, but can see him as GG sorta, damn forgot about the big project, when you me TYLER an DDD starting that?? ; p

tHE REST I LIKE AN HELL ooops, im getting to like fassbender AS bullseye, damn you an TYLER are trying to brainwash me an its starting to work lol! ; D

Man though, you gotta change WENTWORTH MILLER man, mainly you've actually used this actor for about 6 or 7 marvel characters now, (He cant be everyone lol) overall though man good stuff, id luv a THUNDERBOLTS movie, hell i bought this series since issue one, luv 'em!!!

Damn my new AVATAR is doing my head in already lol.
JoshWilding
JoshWilding - 1/2/2010, 12:33 PM
LEE: Thanks bud! :) I'm glad you got your PC sorted! I definitely wouldnt change Dafeo but this is sort of a fantasy fan cast as this movie will never be made, lol! (I think the characters are owned by 2 or 3 different studios at least!!) However, I do think that McGinley would do great in the role!

I'm only just now starting work on dividing up DDD's list so I guess we'll start things in the next few weeks or something!

Well, we couldnt brainwash you into supporting Ackles for Cap so we're just using smaller characters and building up to that one character at a time, lol!! ;D

Haha, I've cast Miller as Captain America, Black Bolt and Galactus! Thats not that many is it, hehe!? I have to disagree with you about Larter and Heigl though - I think larter is suited perfectly to this role and Heigl is perfect for the other!
InTylerWeTrust
InTylerWeTrust - 1/2/2010, 1:02 PM
I've only seen McGinley in Scrubs, that's why I'm hesitant at the idea of him as Osborne.

I just can't take him seriously as that major of a character in the Marvel U. All I'd hear or see is Dr. Cox.

Again, that's the only thing I've seen McGinley in, so I may be a little biased, but, personally, I like Ralph Fiennes as Osborne, little typecasting, yes, but I know he would knock it out of the park.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 1/2/2010, 1:50 PM
Ohhhh thats the plan is it, get me wiv the smaller characters first heh heh!!! ; D

JoshWilding - 1/2/2010, 2:32 PM
TYLER: Same here! Despite that, I still have a feeling that he'd do a great job! It would be nice to have seen him in something other than Scrubs in more of a Norman Osborn type role though I must admit! Great choice with Fiennes!

THEHAWK: Well, we're working on what may be the biggest fan cast EVER - I'm talking about 1000+ character man! Hopefully we'll be making a start in the next few weeks!! I'll head over to your cast ASAP!

OZY: I completely disagree with you about Farell, but thanks lol! :)

Personally I would prefare:

keeping WILLIAM DAFOE as green goblin,
RACHEL NICLOS as Songbird
KYLE GALLNER as Penance
and COLLIN FARREL as Bullseye - he was amazing in the Daredevil movie!!
