Do we finally have our first confirmed cast member for Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot? Though nothing has been officially announced, a reliable source is claiming that Adam Driver will be suiting-up as Reed Richards in the movie.

The Star Wars: The Last Jedi actor has been rumored to be the studio's top choice for a while now, and last we heard, he was said to be in the "final talks" stage of negotiations. Now, @MyTimeToShineHello - who has a solid track record of beating the trades to some big stories - is reporting that the deal is done, and Driver will lead the team as the super-stretchy Mr. Fantastic.

We'll obviously have to take this as a rumor for the time being, but if accurate, the trades are sure to weigh-in fairly soon.

We have heard a few names mentioned in connection with Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and The Thing, but nothing solid just yet. Mila Kunis - who was said to be in contention to play Sue Storm - did recently say that she knew "who was in the movie," so there's a chance Marvel has locked-down its main cast and is waiting for the right opportunity to make an announcement.

Matt Shakman will direct from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Kevin Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.

“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”

Filming is currently scheduled for January.

The Robbie and Mescal stuff sounded like BS, and she's gotten a lot of scoops wrong (and that's before mentioning just how often danielrpk just throws shit at the wall lol), but this one I can believe. Still not believing it unless it's officially announced, but Driver's one of the most exciting young actors working in Hollywood today so I really hope the script's in great shape before they start filming (which might have to be delayed depending on the strike)

@tmp3 -

"Driver's one of the most exciting young actors working in Hollywood today..."

at 40 y/o I doubt he's considering "young"
just saying ...

specially if they are gonna launch a trilogy that takes about 10 years to completion.

anyway, he never was my top choice
but
is not up to me so...

I am going to throw out a fan cast out of left field but I think Adrianne Palicki would be a great Sue Storm.

If he’s not cast can we please put this scooper in the trash with the rest of them?
Origame

@philinterrupted - I just don't want it to be right so he can't use this to trick people into thinking he's reliable. Like, "I'm reliable. I revealed Adam driver was gonna be Mr fantastic. Just ignore the other 99% of scoops I got wrong".

@Origame - agreed, I hate “scoopers”.

I don't see it, can't picture him as Mr.Fantastic but ehhh we'll see...

I guess casting him as Doom would've been typecast? Still, who cares, if the shoe fits...

You know what this feels like? Like cumberbatch getting Strange. Kind of like “ok…if you say so”

@TheWalkingCuban -
Bruh.
By that point, cumberbatch was sherlock ,did the Smaug voice and alot of really good roles. He was perfect for strange. The thing is, he was weak in his first movie. But the way he plays him now is pitch perfect. He has the deep voice and gravitas he’s supposed to have. I don’t know why he played it as a regular dude in the first movie but its fixed now because obviously he’s a great actor

@Boredasffff - he and strange, just like Adam and Reed, still have a certain genericness tho. That turned out to be the case, once Strange came out.

One of the best actors today

This goofy looking emo a$$hat is exactly wrong for this role. he is best left to angsty dramas. he was so bad in the last Star Wars trilogy that I can't figure out why they think he is right for this.

Bad start if this is true.

@DocSpock - bro he was a United States Marine. He’s not an emo ass hat. You clown

I was referring to his acting skills. You do know that people acting in movies are not who they are in real life, right? Oh, sorry to break that news to you.

@DocSpock - Kylo Ren/Driver's performance as Kylo Ren was one of the few saving graces of those movies lol what are u on
CAPTAINPINKEYE
CAPTAINPINKEYE - 5/6/2023, 9:57 AM
@DocSpock - He was bad in Star Wars because the writing was bad. You can't blame an actor when the material he/she is working with is horse shit.

This goofy looking emo a$$hat??
the guy is 6'2" and a marine. Would you say that to him if you were in the same room with him?

DocSpock
DocSpock - 5/6/2023, 10:08 AM
@Cap1 -

I am on many things, but he sucked in those movies. he should be doing Hamlet or something like that.

And, yes, if were in the same room with him, I would say Semper Fidelis & bust his balls like everyone else at the VFW.

Alucard28 - 5/6/2023, 10:18 AM
@DocSpock - Adam Driver is a good actor. Even his "sad guy" Kylo was good. He's also great on The Last Duel.

People really like to mindlessly hate lol.
DocSpock
DocSpock - 5/6/2023, 10:26 AM
@Alucard28 -

hate? Huh? Who are you saying you hate? He is a good actor & was good in the Last Duel. He belongs in Shakespearian type drama. The part of Kylo was badly written, & still he was very bad in it.

philinterrupted
philinterrupted - 5/6/2023, 10:52 AM
@DocSpock - I actually like Adam Driver a lot. He’s not what was wrong with the star wars movies. Is he right for Reed Richard’s? I don’t think so, but if he ultimately does play him I think you could go far worse.
DocSpock
DocSpock - 5/6/2023, 10:56 AM

I disagree, but that's okay. This site would be no fun if everyone thought the same way.

Well, dipsh!t, I have seen almost all of his movies. If you had read everything, you would have read that I think he is a good dramatic actor. he should stick to dramas & Shakespearean type stuff. He sucked in Star Wars.
