Following today's big Fantastic Four news/rumor dump, we have a pretty major correction to make!
On the Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider said that he was almost certain that Jack Quaid (The Boys, Scream) was a lock to play Johnny Storm, aka the Human Torch, in Marvel Studios' upcoming reboot.
However, Sneider was basing this off his source telling him that "JQ" had landed the role.
During the podcast, Sneider was informed that he'd made a mistake, and those initials actually stood for Stranger Things breakout Joseph Quinn!
We don't know for sure that Quinn has officially been cast as Sue Storm's hot-headed brother, but Sneider seemed to feel that it was close to a done deal (you can check out his full report here).
As for the rest of the team, Vanessa Kirby has reportedly been cast as Invisible Woman, but casting for Reed Richards is still said to be wide open despite the recent rumor that Matt Smith had been offered the role. Marvel is believed to be searching for a "fat white guy" to play Ben Grimm, aka The Thing.
Matt Shakman will direct from a script by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Plot details are still a mystery, but Feige has confirmed that this will not be another origin story for the super-team.
“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” he said in a 2022 interview, comparing this new take on the heroes to Marvel Studios' pact with Sony to bring Spider-Man into the MCU. “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
