Beckinsale Attached to 4th Underworld Film

The star of the first two Underworld films, Kate Beckinsale, is attached to the upcoming 4th installment of the series reports Chud.com and Bloody Disgusting. However, it will only be a cameo of sorts. According to BD's sources, Beckinsale is trying to move away from the project and franchise all together and "pass the torch to one of her kindred." Screenwriter John Hlavin has stated that the film will not be another prequel, but will attempt to continue the story between Beckinsale's and Speedman's characters, as well as open it up to a whole new audience. Len Weisman will be returning to direct the film.

Surprisingly, the film will more than likely be jumping in on the 3D craze as well.

It is being rumored that both Michael Sheen and Bill Nighy will also be reprising their roles, but nothing has been confirmed yet. The fourth installment is set to release January 21, 2011.



ecksmanfan: While I rather enjoyed the first two films, the third was just ok. I'm surprised, actually, to see yet another film in this series.

alright great news shes back for at least one more,or a cameo in a sequel. after that i really hope they do a prequel and make the very begining about alexander corvinus,william,and marcus. and show victor and how he came to hate the lycan as he does.great news.

all i need to hear now is the creature from the black lagoon remake is green lit,a resident evil remake is lit,steve altens the loch,island of dr moreau remake,a hulk sequel,x-4 and 5 back to back are gonna be made,and some news on the new jp 4, captain america casting,and spiderman news. i think this year we will see some great films,and next year.

supahphreak rise was very good but a begining film is really needed to show how it all really began and the brothers becoming what they became and the struggles between them and their father,and of course victor. maybe william,and victors wife really had something going on before and that is why victor hates lycans i dont know they could do alot of things with a begining story and it is needed.

How about another Kate Beckinsale 'au natural' scene in 3D? She's come a LONG way since 'Much Ado About Nothing' (YUM-O!).

I'm down for this, sad that Kate is only doing a cameo, but IMO her character is uber now she can't loose, happy about Bill Nighy and Sheen too they are some of the best parts about the series.

Surprised for how long this article has been her that Shaman hasn't commented.

If it's not going to be a prequel, then what the hell is Bill Nighy attached to it for? More flashbacks? I don't know, I really liked all three movies but I don't know about a fourth, especially if Kate just has a bit part.
