Conan, Flash Gordon Producer Dino De Laurentiis Dies at 91

Veteran producer Dino De Laurentiis has died at the age of 91, and rather than offer up a long biography providing a list of his credits, we thought, given that movies were his life, we would provide some visual highlights instead.

MatchesMalone - Those aren't the ONLY films Mr. De Laurentiis worked on. 'U-571,' 'War and Peace,' 'Ragtime,' 'Three Days of the Condor', 'Blue Velvet' and 'Serpico' are all his (to name a few)... and 'Manhunter' and 'Army of Darkness' are cult classics! Don't dis the De Laurentiis without doing your homework first!

De Laurenitis produced a lot of great movies in his lifetime. Moviegoers were lucky to have a man of his vision to help bring so many great movies and great characters to life. RIP.

Rest in Peace, Mr. De Laurentiis. It is predominantly his involvement in the movie industry that really got me into High Fantasy and Sci-Fi (I own what seems like half of this listing on DVD...priceless). He will be sorely missed, and so will his influence...

...as a sidenote, how can you go wrong with Barbarella? Boobs in space? Epic!

@loganoneil- I didn't say they were all shit. I said most of them. And I wasn't referring to his entire body of work, just the ones in the posters that Ed posted. I love Manhunter and Army of Darkness. Try paying attention to what I said next time. Thank you for playing our game. We have some wonderful concilation prizes for you. Geez, humor is just lost on some people.

Wow can you believe the ignorant people who post sometimes? This guy is a legend and his film styles set new standards in the industry. He taught people a lot about this art and many have implimenetd his ideas. Love or hate his style the man deserves to be appreciated and respected. What has happened to civility, respect and appreciation in this world? So much is crass, rude, adolesent and deragadatory, even when a great person has passed (not funny at all malone). When will some people grow up?

@Binars- How did you glean any disrespect for the man from what I typed? I never said anything about Dino personally or made fun of the fact that he died. I also never put down his contribution to film in general. The only statement I made in regards to the article that Ed wrote (which, by the way isn't really an article per se, more of an homage to some of his more memorable movie posters, which don't even begin to scratch the surface of the many movies he had a hand in creating) was that the majority of the films represented in the posters above were not very good films. Did I say all of his films? No. Did I even say all of the films represented by the posters in question? No. I said MOST of them. If you don't agree, then you need to watch more films and refine your palate because I stand by my statement: most of the movies above are shit. You call me ignorant, but I say you, sir, are the ignorant one by assuming I meant any disrespect by my honest, albeit simply stated, opinion. Because, let's be real, this is a website driven by just that: people's opinions about films. Maybe I should have said this earlier, but rest in peace, Mr. DeLaurentis. You made many films, some good, some bad, that meant something to many people. You will live on forever through the memories you have given us throughout your long and illustrious career. And by the way, judging by the majority of people who laughed out loud at my statement, I am funny.
