According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has hired Andrea Berloff to write the movie that hopes to bring about the legendary barbarian's triumphant return to the screen (that Jason Moma reboot didn't work out so well), once again with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role. Berloff most recently adapted the French action film Sleepless Night for Warner Bros., and is also apparently writing a retelling of the King Arthur myth for Disney. Producer Chris Morgan called Berloff “an amazing writer who can juggle masculine grittiness with extreme emotional depth. Her take on Conan is powerful and genuine and would make Robert E. Howard proud.” Deadline also drop a brief hint about what we can expect from the plot, revealing that the movie will hearken back top that final image of Conan on his throne from the 1982 flick, and Legend Of Conan will deal with his "efforts to stay there and the final cycle of a life spent obliterating anyone who got in his way."

Maybe someday I'll get to see a Conan movie that ist actually a direct adaptation of the original Howard stories. Well, probably not gonna happen in my lifetime.

At least I can find comfort in the knowledge that I'm a pretty DISNEY PRINCESS. ^^ (is this really going to be a thing around here?)

So everyone is cool with bringing back old movies as long as the original cast does it? What's next, "Old & Dirty Harry"? I love Awnald S. as much as the next adrenaline movie junkie but you gotta admit he's lost a step. Conan is a classic but forgive me for doubting this... I hope I'm wrong cuz i want him to go out on top of his game.

@MarkV
Probably we will see King Conan in the next sequel. A s an aged Arnold/Conan we need to connect this movie with the first. Hopefully we get to see in this flick how ascends into King. Then later -- King Conan.

@Grif
For me that is one of the main reason Momoa's Conan failed to match Arnold's Conan 1. Basil Poledouris musical Score totally defined to us Conan and his realm even though Arnold spoke a few lines. It is as iconic as most of the fantasy heroes in the 70's 80's (Superman, Batman, Indiana Jones, James Bond). Something I really missed in todays CBMs. To be fair Jason Momoa would have been an excellent replacement for Arnold. But his movie has a lot of misses that we failed me to identified with him.

I know a 60 year old Arnold as Conan is a tough concept to sell. But the idea of an aged warrior amidst younger and stronger adversary would be interesting. Hope to see Conan work with interesting supportinig characters and face off more formidable villains. And again good story , excellent musical score, brutal action sequence, cinematic scenes. CGi-- surprise us with really cool ones but please keep it minimal.

Oops! One more thing. Like Chris Reeve Superman, 80's Flash Gordon and Sean Connery's Bond I would like to see a descent closure to Arnold's Conan franchise before a reboot.

Can't fathom or handle watching an old and lousy actor in Schwarzenegger carry another Conan film. The only thing that made the original decent was his age, condition and novelty of it all. No more novelty left in the novelty tank when it comes to him for me. I could barely tolerate him in The Expendables.

God, studio's and fanboys can be blinded by stupidity..

The guy is 66 years old, a bloody pensioner and fanboys are still seeing him through their usual childhood view glasses. He had a limited use for what weas then a cult following back in the 80's and 90's and with the help of James Cameron managed a handful of movies over 100 million but those days are long bloody gone.

Nobody gives a shit about this aged joke, he can't act and he sure has no box office pulling power. His full appearance in The Expendables 2 actually resulted in less box office than the first film with a measly $85 million dollars. His first headlining movie, The Last Stand made earlier this year for a lowly £45 million budget, flopped massively with a ridiculous $37 million worldwide, WORLDWIDE!

Just get Jason Moama back for a sensible sequel without any forced 3D presentations and stop trying to flog this dead horse.

I hope its good. Better have other known characters from Conan comics. Like Zula for example.

Would be cool to see Momoa as young Conan. He would much better with better script and muscles of Dwayne Johnson.

smh, should have stuck with Momoa and made another movie for him.

His was the best Conan movie so far.

The first Conan the barbarian was real damn good,I will defend that film as a classic!

The effects & story were more problematic in the sequel but I can see Arnold as an aged King Conan. Bring It On!
