Disney Promises Johnny Depp WILL BE Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of The Caribbean 4"

Jack is back! I thought about that headline as soon as I saw the "No Jack Sparrow" article from Watchtower31 a couple days ago. I knew Sparrow would be back just like Grif did. I was a big fan of the first POTC but the franchise kinda lost me in the second POTC. I enjoyed the third POTC because it seemed we wouldn't have to deal with Kiera Knightly and Orlando Bloom any more. It seemed that the third POTC lowered the curtain on those two charecters. Which is fine. Maybe we could see more of Jack Sparrow, which is why almost everyone watches the movie in the first place.

Sounds like per Disney Johnny Depp will be back drinking rum and getting slapped by women that he deserves to be slapped by. Which is cool. Like I said I really enjoyed the first installment of the first POTC trilogy and it looks like I have a chance in enjoying this first installment of the second POTC trilogy.

It definately trailed off after the 1st. Hopefully they will get back toa straight fowrward streamlined story. The others just got too convoluted.

From what I gathered, the whole no-Johnny-Depp-as-Jack-Sparrow thing started after he had finished with PotC4. It is the next two films (currently being written) which supposedly would feature a different actor for the part.

POC would be nothing without Depp. Not to say that the other actors were bad, but Captain Jack made the films. It will be interesting to see in what direction Disney will take the franchise without Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley.

Some of the posts by you guys made me wonder something: Why hasn't Disney turned the POC franchise into animation and/or some sort of live action TV show? I'd probably watch that, and I know for a fact that the kids would.

Frankly though, I was surprised that Depp took this role in the first place, let alone him sticking around for four of them. That's not a knock against him, it's just that he was, prior to five or six years ago, pretty finicky about the projects he picked.

Really? duh! Did anyone think this movie would be seen without him? That would be like a Star Wars movie without a lightsaber, or Jurassic Park with no f**king dinosaurs. These films weren't made to be direct to video flops, there's way too much money to be made here.

Well, that wasn't what I was suggesting. I'm just talking business here; if it has high name recognition and is geared towards kids, like POC is, it's hard to see how it DOESN'T make sense to hire some guy to impersonate Depp and make an animated series. This IS Disney, we're talking about here.

jack? no will? no elizabeth? that dude from that article is right. jack with out will and elizabeth is like donkey without shrek and fiona. jack makes the movie fun but he needs his ying (or yang, whichever william is). and hey, i loved pirates 2 and 3. pirates 2 had me laughing the entire time and pirates 3 had me crying just as much. the first had a boring edge to it, i have no clue why
