Greg Ellis confirms below that, of the previous Pirates Of The Caribbean installments, that the upcoming fourth installment will be most akin to the first film, Curse Of The Black Pearl. From DigitalSpy.com:
"It should be a great movie. The first time in 3D, the first time with a new director, Rob Marshall, and he was a great man to work with.
It will look slightly different because of the 3D element and I think the story is more similar to the first film. I'm really looking forward to watching it myself. It's a simpler story to understand, it's basically a race between three ships.
Also with Ian McShane as BlackBeard, I mean it doesn't get scarier than that! All my scenes are with Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally and we had a real blast, but as soon as you throw Ian into that mix, it's fun times."
He added that he had to stand in for Johnny Depp during rehearsals for a dance scene with Penelope Cruz.
"Johnny Depp couldn't make it to rehearsals for a couple of days and there is a sequence at one point in the movie where Depp is supposed to dance with Penelope Cruz's character and they get pretty up close and intimate," he said.
"Rob Marshall was kind enough to ask me to step into the shoes of Jack Sparrow for a couple of days and I was happy to oblige. It was a challenge, but I rose to the challenge. We all make sacrifices in this business and that was one of my bigger ones."
On a possible fifth movie, Ellis replied:
"I really hope there are more movies. I know they are already talking about another one, I just think it will be down to the success of the fourth one."
