Is Sucker Punch going to flop?

After its first weekend in theaters, will this movie flop or not?

As we all know now, Sucker Punch hit theaters Friday and opened to mixed reviews all around. Praised as a visually fun movie with almost as many explosions as a Micheal Bay film, this movie lacked severally in most other things a movie needs to succeed.

What many people may not know is that not only did it get beat at the box office in its first week out, but it got beat by a kids movie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2...

Now that may not bother many people. Kids movies tend to make a lot of money anyway since not only do the kids go see the movies, but the parents are the ones taking them.

Here's hows the Box Office shakes out for the weekend:

1. Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2- 24,400,00 (overall)
2. Sucker Punch- 19,015,00 (overall)
3. Limitless- 15,225,000 (weekend) 41,280,982 (overall)

With a reported budget of 82 million, will this movie struggle to break even? Will more people go see it now that the reviews have said it was worth the ticket price to see the visuals? Or, will this movie fall short and bomb big?

As we all know, the opening weekend is huge for a movie. Most of the time, the majority of the money made by the movie is made in its first weekend. Sucker Punch only made a little under 1/4th of its budget back in the first weekend. It is not looking likely that this movie will break even in my opinion, but it could easily make up for it in the coming weeks both in the US and overseas.

My question for everyone: If this movie struggles to make at least 82 million, breaking even, or even comes up short, will this hurt Snyder's chance at directing the upcoming Superman movie? Early reports, before the movie was released, seemed to point that Warner Brothers was not happy with the film and if it didn't do well, Snyder might be pulled from directing the movie.

What do y'all think about this and what is your reaction to Sucker Punch falling behind in the Box Office after just one weekend?

Superman will sell the new superman movie. What that means is the title will sell itself, majority will not care who directs it because, well it's superman! Everyone knows that name and the story behind Kalel and we can't get enough of it, especially how quick technology is advancing. Movie goers will continue to watch it no matter how many remakes come along because everyone knows Hollywood this time around understands we want a more tougher and darker superman. AKA: A lot of cool, visually breath taking fight scenes.

Interesting comparison between Snyder and Bay. A bit of trivia for you, Zack and Michael both went to the same film school at just about the same time--Art Center College of Design in Pasadena.

Pacing and story telling matter when directing. Just because its Superman doesnt mean it will be good. SR was supposed to be good to. Snyder dpesnt know how to cast and isnt as good a director as some might hope.

80% of the critics on RT hated it. I don't know where you're getting your reviews from.

@notthatguy i actually believe snyder is very very good at casting and plus he has chris nolan rite next to him who has close to pitch perfect casting and imo he is a phenomenal director he can take actors who generally arent the greatest actors and make them give the best performance they can possibly do....look at the evidence in 300 and watchmen
