John Rhys-Davies' character is well known amongst admirers of "Lord of the Rings." He's played a dwarf throughout the entire trilogy and although his direct character doesn't appear in "The Hobbit," Gloin, his father's character will.
When encountered by Empire magazine about whether or not he would take the role of Gloin in "The Hobbit," it appears he is against the idea.
"I've already been asked and to be honest with you, I wouldn't. I have already completely ruled it out," he said. "When you've been 1 of 1, why would you want to be 1 of 13?"
It isn't as if he is completely against the idea of returning to the future franchise, he simply wants a different role this time around.
"I'd really prefer to play something quite different. Maybe an Elf," he said.
Whispers68: If "The Hobbit" continues on a similar format as "Lord of the Rings" did; in the form of good acting, direction, script, etc, this will be a major blockbuster. I enjoyed Davies' portrayal in the franchise so I would love to see him return once again in whatever role he chooses.
