In a recent interview with USA Today promoting her latest film Last Night, Keira Knightley - who played Elizabeth Swan in the first three installments of the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise - briefly discusses who it was like to be filming those films, and that she had enough after solidly doing it for two years. From USA Today:

Knightley calls shooting the Pirates franchise an "amazing" experience, but "I was 17 when I started and 22 by the time the last one came out. It was a considerable chunk of time." And with the back-to-back shooting schedule for Pirates 2 and 3, "doing it solidly for two years at that time was definitely enough. And I mostly just wanted to do something else."

The fourth installment of the POTC franchise, On Stranger Tides, sails into theaters May 20th!

Her character's story arc was done. There wouldn't be much of a point for her to be in this one.

@LEEE777, Her and Bloom were garbage, the first one only she was passable.

The series is better off without them.

Has she ever been in a Tim Burton movie? She looks like she was made for the Burton style.

Thank God she left the franchise after they screwed her character over in part 3. What a mess

That a boy, grif! Agreed.

The first was tolerable, but then after that it all ran together and seemed overdone. As for Keira, her character was done after the first movie. I don't know why they limped her and Bloomingdale along for 2 and 3 when we know these are the stories of Jack Sparrow, not Capt Jack and the Pirate Wannabe Gang.
