"Legion" is the upcoming movie from Scott Stewart which stars Paul Bettany as the Angel Michael, as well as Dennis Quaid and Kevin Durand. It hasn't received any coverage on this site because of its lack of comic book ties but that has all changed now!

IDW Publishing announced that Scott Stewart and Tom Waltz have penned a four issue mini-series that will serve as a prequel to the movie. "Legion: Prophets" will introduce you to the Theologians, the Guardian, the Codebreaker, and the Voice, five very different and unlikely individuals who become humanity's only hope in surviving the Apocalypse.

"There were a lot of cool and scary characters and situations that I wasn't able to include in the main narrative of the movie. So I'm very excited to be able to expand the Legion universe beyond the film and explore those other stories through the comic book series," says Stewart.

Here's a look at that trailer. Its pretty crazy looking. Seems to have elements of everything from "Dogma" to "Preacher" to "Sandman" in there..

Thanks to Cinematical for all the info.

It LOOKS cool but myself and probably lots of people will have a problem with the story. God sending his angels to exterminate all humanity? Putting collars on his angels andtreating them like pets? Yeah...people will have a problem with those concepts. But im sure it's not really aimed at the religious crowd anyway :)

It's going to be good if for no other reason than that it is gonna get the bible thumpers in a tizzy.

Some dude on another forum I'm on said he didn't like how Hollywood is rewriting religion, and that God exterminating man kind was just going too far. I asked him if he would prefer a movie about Noah's arc.

Harrison@lol that's great hahaha what a comeback....anyway I think people freak out about religion too much I believe in god and things like that but not that im gonna burn in hell if I don't go to church or drink a beer I love this concept its very original and different instead of a second comin we get attacked by angels who are here to exterminate us im interested in how it plays out in the movie im definitely gonna see this
Tylert80
Tylert80 - 8/26/2009, 5:09 AM
Im not religious or anything. But I dont see why religious people would get pissed of, in the old testament god was killing and smiting just for the smallest of things so this could be believable in a religious sense.

And im so gonna watch this film it looks pretty good.
Oh yeah and who is the person tied upside down that explodes.
alphamale80
alphamale80 - 8/26/2009, 6:24 AM
who cares if the would get pissed off. If they did that would make the movie even more popular. I watch the trailer with the old lady after coming from the bar last weekend and I have to admitt that I was shook. That old lady made me jump.

Tylert80, Exactly! But we all know these Zealots don't let little things like hypocrisy and contradiction keep em off their high horses.

I think the movie looks like great fun..but not too much more than that. Hope I'm wrong though...

Though its gonna be a ride either way!
superdog
superdog - 8/26/2009, 8:07 AM
but the old testament was replaced by the new one with a more benevolent god who no longer smites people. so maybe only the jews will be ok with this movie :)

im not super religious but i do attend church and this is not in line with my beliefs of god. doesnt mean i wont see it. but i can understand why people wouldnt like it. and thier free to do so. no reason to call them zealots or whackos. no different then those of us not wanting to see superhero movies cause they arent true to the source material or character. they certainly shouldnt protest though or tell people not to see it. it is just a movie after all. :)

Nah pooch, i didn't mean anyone who is religious is a Zealot! Or even someone who would choose not to see it, just those that go plum crazy and scream about blasphemy when movies like this are made. I mean at the end of the day its just a story, just because it isn't in line with a persons beliefs doesn't mean its saying those beliefs are wrong. I mean if this causes a stir, I can't wait to see what happens when Preacher comes out!

ror@ yeah. preacher will be interesting. i agree no one should ever tell anyone NOT to see a movie based on the subject matter. its ok to tell them cause the movie sucks. but thats it. ill probably see it cause i like those kind of movies. and i think bethany is a good actor. but i wont feel all dirty for having watched it. :)
