Martin Freeman In The Hobbit Afterall?

Don't count him out so quickly.

Remember yesterday when we heard that a scheduling conflict prevented Martin Freeman from starring in The Hobbit? Well, Cinematical is reporting that the producers are revising the shooting schedule in order for Freeman to star in the film as well as reprise his role of Dr. Watson on the popular BBC show Sherlock. The negotiations are ongoing.

For those of you who don't know, Freeman is most known for starring in Ricky Gervais' The Office.

So, does this mean that The Hobbit is moving along afterall? I mean, Peter Jackson is reportedly on board to direct and casting for Bilbo Baggins seems underway. Could this movie still happen?

Tell me what you think in the comments below. ;)

Yeah CBM I don't really think they'll have to do too much make up on the guy. I like him in The Office, but I also like Dwight in (American) The Office yet I cannot stand him in any other role.

I think JOHN KRASINSKI from the other OFFICE should be in it too!

Freeman is perfect for Bilbo, kind of like Stephen Fry as Oscar Wilde or Andy Serkis as Gollum -- I can't imagine a better choice for the role.

Good to see you back tea! :)

This guy looks the part but I'm not a fan of his. In fact, he's probably one of my least favourite British actors...that modern day Sherlock Holmes show he was in recently was crap IMO!

Spyglass signs MGM letter of intent, which means they'll have the cash for The Hobbit movies and James Bond.

@JoshW...Although I haven't seen it personally, I've only heard good things about Freeman's Watson in in the new Sherlock Holmes series.

Oh please let this movie be made. The Hobbit was the first J.R.R. Tolkien novel I read back when I was a kid. I was able to read partially The Twin Towers. Thanks to Peter Jackson I finally almost able complete this epic.

By the way, I notice more and more spammers are starting to creep this site.

I sooooooo want to see Beorn in action!! Seeing him go berserk at the Battle of the Five Armies would make me more happy than all LotR movies combined, seriously. This guy rocks! :O

Oh, yeah, Freeman does look like a Hobbit and should totally be in the movie. ;)

I'm still bitterly disappointed by del Toro's departure. He was the perfect director... in the same way that Martin Freeman is the perfect Bilbo. He even resembles Ian Holm. Please let this happen. Don't take away all my hopes and dreams one by one, world.
