Possible List Of Directors For Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 Includes Sam Raimi And Shawn Levy!

Cinema Blend is reporting that, despite Disney's interest in having Pirates 4 director Rob Marshall being back for a fifth installment, there's already interest in a replacement should things not work out with Marshall...

As expected, the huge success of POTC: On Stranger Tides at the box office is already convincing Disney to put out another installment in the near future. They originally offered Rob Marshall, who directed On Stranger Tides, to be back in the director's chair for the fifth installment, but Cinema Blend has some sources saying that, despite Disney's interest in bringing Marshall back, that little activity from him in returning is prompting Disney to find another director, thinking of big names such as Tim Burton (Planet Of The Apes), Sam Raimi (Spider-Man), and Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum) that could replace Marshall if necessary.

Disney wants Marshall to direct Pirates 5, in fact they’ve had an offer out to him since January, but since there’s been no movement we’ve heard from our sources that the studio is starting to at least consider other alternatives.

Our most reliable sources tell us that their dream choice for the Pirates of the Caribbean 5 directing job is Tim Burton. There was reason to believe they wanted him for the fourth movie too, and just couldn’t get him. Odds that they’ll get him now are pretty slim. We’ve heard they’re also tossing around names like Shawn Levy, Sam Raimi, Chris Weitz, and Alfonso Cuaron.

Who do you think should replace Rob Marshall as director of the Pirates franchise? Anyways, POTC: On Stranger Tides is out now at your local theater!
