Rob Marshall is the director set to take over Pirates of the Caribbean starting with its fourth in stallment On Stranger Tides. Speaking to Coming Soon Marshall talks a little more about the story:

"The story takes us to some different places," Marshall explained, "which makes it nice that it's not the same old thing. The whole opening and the first third of the film takes place in London. So we start on dry land and there is an impostor that Jack is looking for. He then escapes from the palace, gets captured by King George and there is a huge carriage chase...[W]e set sail and that is sort of the second act. It's a new ship, Blackbeard's ship, the 'Queen Anne's Revenge.' Then Barbossa has a new ship called the 'Providence.' The third act is this incredible jungle adventure through caves where they are looking for the Fountain of Youth."

Rob Marshall had to say about Geoffrey Rush who is returning as Captain Barbossa who now works for the king:

"[H]is character is different in this film," said Marshall, "because he has joined a different side... which is really shady."

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides sails into theaters May 20, 2011. The movie will be directed by Rob Marshall and star Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin McNally, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Stephen Graham, Yuki Matsuzaki, Gemma Ward, Keith Richards, Richard Griffiths, and Judi Dench

I think the best thing they can do is focus the story on Sparrow and Barbossa since they are the two most interesting characters in the series. Bloom and Knightley won't be missed. I like what I have been hearing about this film so far.

Fed up with Depp and tired of all these Pirates of the carribean films. How many so far? 4? And they kinda sucked so far. Just like with harry potter. Time to pull the plug on these franchises

@ShadowMan & Bigbywolf - you guys hit the nail on the head! The driftwood has been tossed aside and the best two characters from the franchise can now take full advantage!

Lucky for the rest of us haters with no taste like you are in the minority. ;)

More Sparrow and Barbosa sounds like a game plan to me. But then again, I'm pretty sure actors like Johnny and RDJ could make movies with the plot revolved around poop and I'd still pay 11.50 and love every moment.

Only wish I could get more Davy Jones action...
