The first entry of The Hobbit trilogy was screened last night in New Zealand and of course the entire cast and director Peter Jackson were on hand to celebrate. While it's difficult to pin down the film's budget due to the fact that filming for the majority of the trilogy occurred at once, it's estimated that The Hobbit cost $150M. Warner Bros. desperately needs the film to be a hit as the studio looks to fill the void left by the Harry Potter franchise and Christopher Nolan's Batman.
