The sounds of Clash of the Titans

The sounds of Clash of the Titans

In reaction to the reactions to the music in the movie trailer and speculation about whether they will go with an epic movie score or more edgier, modern sound like in the 300... I'd like to make my debut posting on CBM with information straight from the Frenchman's baguette filled mouth

I may be a day late and a dollar short on this one but I'm pretty diligent in keeping up to date on my CMB news and haven't seen this one yet. I know there was discussion about the music used in the movie trailers and whether we could expect Perseus to put on his I-Pod and jam out to the Used while he flies around on Pegasus or if we can expect the more appropriate, Hans Zimmer-esque epic movie score.

News to me is the rumor that Leterrier had his sights on one of my favorites, Muse, to contribute music. As it turns out that was about 1/3 right. Leterrier had tapped lead man Matt Bellamy to contribute about a half hour of music for the movie which would go along with a fully epic score created by the man behind the Incredible Hulk score, Crag Armstrong. Unfortunately for me and anyone else who could possibly have been excited to watch Perseus wail on Medusa while listening to a little Stockholm Syndrome, Bellamy had to decline due to scheduling conflicts and thus... the soundtrack suffered a Massive Attack.

Leterrier: "Craig Armstrong, who did my ['Incredible Hulk'] score-- Craig, he was going to write the score and Matt Bellamy was going to come in and do... maybe 30 minutes of music." and now..? "Craig Armstrong is still doing the score and I called my friend Neil Davidge from Massive Attack to replace Matt for the areas that Matt was doing. So it'll be Craig Armstrong and Massive Attack, which is pretty exciting."

And on a side note coming from the same article (in case there was any question), Leterrier clarifies in the same interview that, while Worthington's success in the 3D Avatar movie led to a lot of speculation about whether they'd try 3D with Titans, the answer is a big... fat... NO!

Thank you and I hope you enjoyed the time we spent together as much as I did.

Mr. Josh is out

Clash makes me think Heavy Metal Opera. Anyone? Anyone?

speaking of heavy metal opera I am about to go home and finish playing Brutal Legend. It's like taking a guitar to the face and waking up on the cover of an Iron Maiden album... or maybe Meatloaf. I think they're both in there actually.

MrJosh: Welcome to the fold. Now that your here it allows us to put you down, trash your article and generaly try and make an ass out of you.

Doesn't look like its gonna happen in your case though.
Nice article sir, very well done. It's good to see new contributers that know what they are doing.

BTW: Love your avatar.

Welcome MrJosh!

I saw this news earlier this week and was stoked when I first read that Bellamy would be involved, as I am an avid fan of Muse. Too bad. I sill think that Muse should do the next James Bond theme song...Everytime I listen to Sunburn, that's all I hear, is a James Bond song.

Howdy, MrJosh

So far there is nothing I don't like about this movie. Music, actors, theme, a Kraken that doesn't look like a Muppet. And Brutal Legend is my favorite game of last year, narrowly beating out Arkham.

WELL done sir. this was such a nice smooth read after that one guy called stan lee a lier.

you actually made me care about something i really don't care about! now i won't be able to think about anything else but the music haha

EDIT: Ror@ went back and watched the video you posted. so you have doubts they wont fit in? man, after watching that i bet they'll fit into a score perfectly! you know artists are always looking to switch it up and this is a great chance. if they're this talented to make this kind of music, no doubt they'll make a 'massive';) contibution to the movie.

Well Clash of the titans is essentially the next stage in a line of films being put out by WB. Hopefully just one of many to come about the ancient greek tales in the same vien as 300.
