'Sucker Punch' has had a lot of bad things said about it since it premiered and a lot of you just don't know what to think and haven't made up your minds on whether or not to bother going to see it yet, well maybe this clip will help you make your decision.

Personally I've seen the film already, and I thought it was great, not Snyder's best film by any means, but in my opinion it was a fun movie to watch as long as you don't pick the whole thing apart. Just sit back and enjoy it.

A young girl (Baby Doll) is locked away in a mental asylum by her abusive stepfather where she will undergo a lobotomy in five days time. Faced with unimaginable odds, she retreats to a fantastical world in her imagination where she and four other female inmates at the asylum, plot to escape the facility. The lines between reality and fantasy blur as Baby Doll and her four companions, as well as a mysterious guide, fight to retrieve the five items they need that will allow them to break free from their captors before it's too late...

The first 6 minutes were the best part IMO. The rest of the movie was pretty lame.

I suggest you turn your brain off to avoid a migraine from trying to make sense of this film. Action/cgi & hot chicks (as hot as a PG-13 rating will allow) can only pick up the slack for a WTF?! story. Like the main character, I wish I was lobotomized after seeing this.

Yeah, the 6 minutes could have been 3, thanks for the slo-mo Zach. Can't wait to see Fast-Slow Superman.
And Watchmen sucked.

Actualy i did like the movie, but i was missing the story. The movie played out like a video game with only 1 goal.
The graphics and girls are awesome though.

Saw it. [frick]ing terrible movie. Lots of things made no sense whatsoever and the movie was trying too hard to be just cool for the sake of being cool. And the acting...dear god...I swear...monkeys show better acting skills. I love Carla Gugino but she wasn't good in this at all.

I understand there are Zack Snyder fans out there, and I like 300 and Watchmen too, but all directors that have done good movies had done bad movies too. Heck, I admit that one of my favorite directors, Spielberg, [frick]ed up in Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Holy Slow Motion, Batman! That pretty much disinterested me completely, in addition to the a couple people who have given away the end of the movie in a couple different threads here.

@Demonhunter15 it IS epic, I disliked it because the ending was just a clustraphuche, in MO.

If they ahd made the movie with a different ending, it woauld have been spectacular

What a terrible movie.

@suspensesmith, constructive criticism by fans often goes unheard. The best we can do as fans is relay our opinions to other fans so that our opinions become noticed by hollywood execs, most notably through dollar signs.

This movie is exceptionally bad, regardless of its strong suits (ie: cinematography, outstanding visuals and hot women). Its concept fails due to lack of focus and poor direction, reinforced by negligent handling of actors and nonexistent character development. Poor acting by a majority of cast members does not help either.

Visual entertainment does not equate to quality entertainment. You can tell by the level of detail that Snyder genuinely tried to make an entertaining movie. However, at some point along the way, the director loses control of the film by congesting it with too many concepts, fanboy and gaming lip service, and fails to bring these concepts together by utilizing any cohesive elements. I would equate Snyder's use of concepts as "too many bats in the batcave".

If some were entertained, I'm happy for them, but for me this movie fell flat.

After reading the more often than not reliable Empire review (3/5) I will give this film a wide berth (not that I was after planning on seeing it anyway). As they put it "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Next with Cheerleaders" (which funnily enough was how I summed it up upon hearing the premise of it). They also said the film was "...a series of preposterously overblown music videos..." and that it lacked any emotional core or character development. Empire have never disappointed in the past, and this review basically tells me to save my money for a better film.

Now, I bet WB are dubious as to how he'll [Snyder] handle Superman, with or without Nolan producing.

It was a well done movie. The problem is viewers and critics not seeing beneath the layers. For one baby doll was completely nuts and that was the perspective the story is viewed. The only "real" parts of the movie that wasnt a babydoll delusion was from the start to the point the lobotomist shows up and is about to do his thing. Then its all fantasy land in the brothel. that was entirely a delusional point of view from baby dolls point of view. Really if you look through the layers of the brothel portions where most the movie takes place, the movie is really about abuse of psychriatric patients and corruption. Things that have a historical basis. For reference watch the movie the Changling directed by mr Eastwood. The dance segements was further delusions within delusions. Also another movie to compare it to is one of my all time favorites Brazil mixed with Anime influences. Really sucker punch is a movie Terry Gilliam could have made with a bit different take. 95% of Terry's films are about insanity in one form or another. The giant Samarai were a complete rip from Brazil really.

For people that didnt like it I challenge them to watch it again With all that in mind. The average movie goer seems to get too confused with so many layeers involved.

Weneedrevelation@ You mean "Dances With Avatar"? LOL The only thing good was the special effects. Otherwise, seen that plot hundreds of times. Foriegner comes in and in a week can out native the natives. Getting old.

@dragonking. it was far from being the definiton of horrible. I seem to recall a certain batman movie with a certain former californian governor in it. i saw that in the theater and its the only movie I been to in my life where you the audience groaned in disgust through out. And there were probably 4 people in the also

Sucker punch was not one to go on the best movies of all time list but definitely doesnt belong on the worst.

The problem I see is it was a marketed as as a simple non thinking kind of film. But it really is its a multi layered movie to get you to think a bit. just it was layered with comic booky action sequences. Note all the descriptions people posted that the assylum was a brothel on the side. They kind of missed a lot. It was a very read between the lines kind of movie. Too many people it went over their heads. People that didnt like it probably would prefer the crappy tv cut of Brazil with that garbage happy ending. I saw the directors cut of Brazil first then saw some tv edited version later and It was such a wtf momment and shows how 30 seconds in a film can make or great film bleh

@Ichaos - I agree totally. I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I'm curious to know how many people enjoyed Inception and DIDN'T like this because it was too much to follow...

Sidenote:

Where did the title come from? (Sucker Punch)
The reason I ask is as I watched her "delusions" I kept noticing the similarities to other movies the "Nazi Mutant" guy in the world war II scene... the tron-esque city from the bomb scene... It's like he said "I'LL show you how I would've done these movies" I don't know.. maybe I'm just reading to much into it.

It just wasn't a good movie. I'm sorry.

I don't get all the people that are like it sucked because it didn't make any sense... It made perfect sense. It reminds me of people's reaction to Inception. Inception was not hard to follow at all, yes you have to pay attention. Maybe there should be a disclaimer "Yes, this is an action movie, but you will not enjoy it stoned" Not comparing Inception to Sucker Punch though. Inception was way better, but this movie was pretty good. My only critique would be the lack of emotional attachment to some of the characters.

Christopher Nolan made Inception work. Yes it was multi-layered and incredibly complex, but most people generally "got it" upon one viewing, because as I said, it worked.
Judging by the many reactions to the film, multi-layered film making is not Snyder's forte. And saying you'll need to watch Sucker Punch twice to "get it" is no defense. When people have said that to me in the past it's usually because they want me to like it and not because it's a good film.

I can't remember where I heard/read this, but it was said that upon viewing the film, it lived up to it's name. Made me chuckle. Still, every director usually has a bad film in their repotoire I suppose.
