Could Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengance Be the Underdog of 2012?

After a long wait, the ghost rider trailer has finally hit but will the film be any good?

I want to start off by saying that even though I enjoyed the first movie I still thought it was bad, almost everything was wrong: the acting, the script, the direction and the special effects. However Sony have decided to release a second film entitled ghost rider spirit of vengeance.

The plot sounds simple enough: Set several years after the first film, Johnny Blaze is in self-imposed exile from the world. Blaze has become a tormented soul, convinced that his powers are a curse. Former stuntman Blaze is then approached by Moreau, a member of the monastic order of Michael, the warrior angel. Moreau seeks a protector for a mother and son duo who are being pursued by a figure named Roarke – a fellow with a detailed knowledge of the Ghost Rider and his different identities over the centuries.

Just that little passage creates a darker feel than the first, add in the "Crank" directors and we have a r rating. The cast is almost completely new apart from Nic Cage but hearing interviews from him he sounds completely excited about the film and always complements the "insane" directors.

I also have to say that at first I wasn't sure about the redesign of ghost rider and the new bike but I retained any comments until I saw how it looked on screen and if it looks like it did in the trailer for the film but in 3d that would be cool. I am very impressed with the character designs especially blackout who looks like blackout, YaY, and the ghost rider has a cool burned effect going, although I'm not going into this movie expecting a great story because that would have been likely sacrificed for loads of stuff blowing up.

With The dark knight rises and the avengers it was always likely that one film would be ignored by audiences but could ghost rider be it?

Good article. But I really don't see this becoming the underdog. Does it have a chance? Oh yeah totally. Every movie has the potiential to capture audiences. But Ghost Rider's is very small. Auidences hate Nicholos Cage now. The trailer may have been interesting, but keep in mind that the teaser for the first one looked interesting as well..

Once I saw Nick Cage make that dumb ass face during his transformation, I lost interest. Once I saw that "pissing fire" bit, I lost all hope

I have a feeling Spirit of Vengeance will be to Ghost Rider what Warzone was to Punisher. "Look, we know the first time wasn't good but we'll do better this time. We promise." Then it turns out to be underwhelming.

umm i think all of this character's potential is CAGEd away, but hopefully one day he can get a good chance. a reboot that will unCAGE what the character can do.

What are you people talking about? The fire urination is funny and I think this movie is going to be awesome even though I am not too keen on Nic Cage playing Johnny.

Ehhh....could be. I hope it does good. It is made by the part of Marvel that made Punisher: Warzone. Marvel Knights so it will hopefully be R-rated.

@ xBlaze96x Didn't even realize that until I looked it up. Yep this film is going to fail in many ways.
