It was heavily rumored that one of the secret reasons for the re-shoot of Jon Chu's upcoming sequel was to add more Channing Tatum (Duke) into the film. Producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has confirmed that the cause for re-shoots was NOT because of to want to add more Tatum into the fray. "That is a complete rumor. I don’t know where that started. Literally, Channing shot for – if I have it wrong, I’m off by an hour – four hours, five hours? So it wasn't really about that at all." When asked about the specifics of the cut he simply said: "It’s not much different. Literally, we shot for three extra days. We just added sort of explanation in what we did afterwards." i'm worried dukes role in this will be as much as cyclops in all 3 x-men movies

G.I. Joe Retaliation's initial release date was sandwiched between:
-The Avengers
-Madagasgar 3
-Men in Black 3
-Prometheus
-The Amazing Spider-Man
-Ice Age
-The Dark Knight Rises

Every one of those flicks made well over the half billion dollar mark or more. 2012 was literally one of the best summers for movies in ages. GI Joe was pushed back because they didn't want to get roflstomped at the box office like Battleship did.

I think it kind of sucks that the film will focus primarily on Roadblock or Heavy Duty...whoever the hell The Rock is playing. The animated series and comics usually had Duke, Flint, Hawk or Sgt. Slaughter in the lead.

i bet duke didnt die. i bet the joe's think he died(dont find his body) in that scene in the trailer but he just got kidnapped. wont be revealed until the end of the movie that hes being brain washed or some crazy thing.

I can see why they would want to re-shoot so that Duke lives. This movie is WAY better than the first, kind of a soft reboot even. It could make for a continued franchise. Having the main character die at the beginning of a potential franchise doesn't work.

I think the movie probably started as a short term money grab, then they realized that they might have made a long term cash cow out of it, so they fixed things.

Snake Eyes has a major role in the movie. The major subplot is about the rift between Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. It is explained and rectified.

Clarification: I can see reshooting so that Duke is not dead(missing, in a coma, something) but they definitely should not change any of the story to add more Duke. I loved the first cut.

this is so funny because the first one was such a piece of shit and everyone knows it. It had a few redeemable moments, but over all a turd circus..The delays, the leaks, the story, and the trail all indicate this will suck. Just kill that douche-bag, finish the franchise and put this POS to bed. They did so much damage out of the gate its not fixable...

This is eerily similar to the animated GIJOE: The Movie. Duke was struck by a (rather bloody) snake to the heart. The scene was re-looped to have someone say "He's slipped into a coma" when he died. Then, during the finale, they add "Duke's gonna be okay!"
