Channing Tatum is busy doing press work for Haywire, and not so surprising people are asking him about his other movie
G.I. Joe Retaliation. After the let down of the other movie Tatum stated in a previous interview he wished they would have just rebooted it completely. In his interview with
Crave he was not as gloom on it and is happy to be sharing the work loads with stars such as The Rock and Bruce Willis saying,
"I’m very, very happy with the arrangement for sure." He also said that unlike in Haywire don't expect him to get beat up by a girl,
"Oh no, there was a French martial artist. I don’t know, I’ve never really seen her fight. I wasn’t really in any of the scenes that she was in so I don’t really know what her capabilities are. She’s insanely beautiful in her movements, just elegant like I don’t even know. I wish I would’ve stayed to get to watch her fight though, do her scenes. She’s a very good athlete for sure."
Jon Chu is directing the film which excited Tatum who likes Chu's directing style saying,
"I love Jon. Jon has his finger on the pulse of, I don’t want to say pop, but of the youth. I think he brings a youthfulness and an edgy hipness to it that I think the first one didn’t have." Edgier doesn't mean darker though,
"Yeah, I don't know if it got darker. I just think it got edgier and more current and hip and it didn’t go so far into the CGI technical world. It really got more, I think Jon uses the words “boots on the ground” to describe it. More hand to hand stuff and just normal guns and normal soldiering." Said Tatum.
The big question on everyone's mind has been will any of the original Joe's from the first movie make an appearance. There have many denials from Rachel Nichols and Marlon Wayans. But Tatum didn't confirm nor deny that we will see any of them in the film and shrugged off the question by saying,
"You’re going to have to watch the movie on that one, sorry."
G.I. Joe Retaliation stars Channing Tatum, D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and will be released on June 29, 2012.
