POLL & COMMENT: How do you feel about The Green Hornet NOW?

With positive reviews coming in for Seth Rogen's Green Hornet movie, will comic book movie purists give it a second look?

Feature Opinion

From the beginning, comic book movie fans weren't keen on the overly comedic take that Seth Rogen's involvement in this movie inferred. There was a pretty universal negative buzz from CBM fans until recently, when the trailers came out. They may have swayed some superhero sticklers into giving it another shot. And now, we've had some very positive previews. So, how do you feel about the movie now? CBM wants to know. Answer the question honestly and comment below if your mind has been changed.

HelaGood - 12/29/2010, 12:11 PM
ok, so one review from one of our own...

ZERO reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Roger Ebert, New Yorker, LA Times...hell, nothing at all from the other main reviewers.

Like three days before it comes out go to rottentomatoes.com and you can see if it's worth seeing or not but in my opinion you need to watch it yourself as well as read the reviews to see if you like it or not.

Hela, trust me there have been plenty. And I was always pretty optimistic given the director. I was cautious about Rogen but had faith nonetheless. Still, remains to be seen! We are all the only real critic.

Well, I think I'd probably have to say "More". I'm not a fan of the character in the comic books, but still thought the movie sounded pretty crap when I first heard about it (Seth Rogen as a superhero = WTF!?!) but the trailers and pictures all look excellent. I'm really looking forward to seeing this in January.

I'm gonna go see it not just because I think it'll be a good movie, but because I also think the Captain America trailer is going to show in front of it. ;P

There were press screenings in 2d but they had to sign a gag order. The reviews will be officially in soon enough.

I hope this movie works out, im sure some hateful folk will like it and STILL trash it cause its the 'cool thing' to do. Personally? I remember watching reruns of the tv show as a kid and think the trailers definitely made a positive impact. Stop the Seth Rogen hate!!!

I became way more into this after the director bashed the fanboys. And simply because of that I am going to watch it. I will watch this film and I honestly think I will enjoy it.

BMP!

yeah as soon as i realized that this movie was more comedy-oriented and not trying to be too dark or serious, my interest skyrocketed

Also the show had its funny moments, whether purposefully or not and it worked well, maybe this movie will do the same.

I'll still watch it just because it's a comic book movie, but I only liked the TV show because of Bruce Lee, not the character of Kato. I just wanted to see Bruce Lee in anything at the time.

I do want to see it, I always did lol

I really wanted something a little more serious and dramatic with like Matt Damon as Green Hornet and Donnie Yen as Kato but I am more then happy with how this looks.

I not excited about it because I dont really like Seth Rogen, and the acting seems to be bad, so not interested on the movie.

I have been interested to see this movie since I first heard about it. I have always liked the Green Hornet, so it would be a little on the silly side not to check it out for myself. BUT! I am extremely apprehensive about Seth Rogan even being attached to the film, let alone having his fingers all over it. It could be a completely entertaining film that many will enjoy but I, as a fan, won't be able to stand it.

If they have over "Roganized" this movie it will not come as any surprise. Hollywood somehow believes that they can do anything they want with pre existing characters for no other reason than that particular character doesn't personally connect with the film makers. Well, it connects with somebody. Take one of the films or stories that inspired one of these "so called" film makers and let some clown tear it apart in the name of entertainment and see what they call it.

I want to "want to" see this... but I am very skeptical with Seth Rogen in the lead role... don't get me wrong... I love the guy in a good comedy... but this just doesn't seem to be a fitting movie for his "skill set"... I'll have to see it first... but for now... I'm on the fence...

seth rogen is the wrong choice for the "green hornet".

from the trailers & clips i've seen it looks like its gonna have too much comedy.

so i'll wait for it to be shown on tv so i can change the channel if it turns out shit.

I was at one of the screenings.
All of this stuff online about the reviewers at said screenings loving it is complete BS!! At least 20% of the people in the theater were leaving very dissapointed.

This is a typical Rogen comedy with Green Hornet camouflage.
Rogen wrote the screenplay. Rogen picked Gondry to direct it.

Forget what people think. Forget reviews. All that matters is if YOU like it. Despite the hate, I love movies like X3, Wolverine, Spider-Man 3, Iron Man 2, Batman Forever and others. Who cares what others think as long as you enjoy it?

i was thinking this was a typical Hollywood smokescreen...

The problem with the movie so far is that it seems to want to parody the franchise. Based on the trailers, the movie looks more like a comedy. The original show had dark themes. The movie looks like it's trading that for a light-hearted adventure.

MarkCassidy - 12/29/2010, 2:16 PM
lol @ cbartist. Woah, 20%. Its a frakkin landslide. So 80% were, um, not disappointed then? And were probably among the positive reviewers? So where is the bullshit?

hahahaha Exactly the same. I didn't give a damn about it before, and I still don't.

I would rather see the Brown Hornet that the Green
