This information posted by Underdog1970 sounds awesome but could easily be written by an enthusiastic fan.  It will do good for those of you curious to know what direction DC/WB will take with green lantern.

Most likely we will see solo Green Lantern movie faster than we think. From what I know WB decided to give this project in very good hands (at least I am very, very, very, very glad with this choice). New Green Lantern movie will be directed by... Darren Aranofsky (man who almost directed Batman reboot, Superman reboot, Wolverine soft-reboot and Robocop remake!!) – Jon Hamm, Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael C. Hall are three main candidates to take lead role.
Also everything (what I heard) suggests that Aronofsky will go with Hal Jordan character in a much darker areas than Cambell...

Please take with a huge grain of salt but it does fit in line with the older and darker approach previously rumored.

I remember reading before a big leaked report by a DC Insider on how some of DC's biggest characters would be portrayed etc. and it said for Green Lantern that WB were looking at a director who they feel would be right to do Green Lantern, but that their most recent sci-fi movie was a bit of a let down. With Noah, I partially feel Aronofsky fits that bill nicely.

As for castings...Jon Hamm would never do it, Michael Hall is too old and Jake Gyllenhaal could do it I suppose if I was interested. I'd personally want someone young in their mid 20s to match Flash, like say Liam Hemsworth.

Also, this should probably be posted in the news section.

Jon Hamm and Michael C Hall are the same age. Based on that part of the scoop, I highly doubt it's true. Two 44 year olds and a 34 year old in the running to play a character generally portrayed in his 20s like you said. Jake 10 years ago would have been great, and he could still do it because he rules, but he feels past that point.

I'm not really a fan of this direction. I watched Noah and it in my opinion was a boring move. I like the idea of going with older actors though. This way they fit closer to Ben's age. Also I guess this means Hal, Guy & Kyle would be in the film. I wonder who'd play John then? I personally was wanting to see Peter Jackson make the movie. If not him Carl Erik Rinsch would have been an interesting choice. I know he's not much known, but what he's done with special effects have been great. Another one that would be great too, is Joseph Kosinski. Seeing as Tron 3 was canceled, Joseph would be perfect for the job.

I want to post this on the news section but I am afraid it will be put down. Well for those of you not happy about the 2 actors' age this could be an older, darker and hardened approach which all 3 candidates are capable of portraying.
I mean Ben Affleck playing an older version of batman is just 1 year younger and batman is a much more physically demanding role than green lantern.

Pietro there can be an older Hal with grey templates and all....

With not much news regarding the Gl actor, director etc I thought this might cater to some fans. So I am the best shot you got......
