EXCLUSIVE: New Fan-Art Imagines LUKE CAGE's Mahershala Ali As The Green Lantern

With a new Green Lantern Corps movie apparently in the works from Warner Bros., we had to ask ourselves what would Luke Cage's Cottonmouth look like as John Stewart/The Green Lantern?

There were rumors way back in 2015 of there being a Green Lantern reboot in the works. In much more recent news it was confirmed last week that David Goyer and Justin Rhodes were brought on as writers for a Green Lantern Corps film. Deadline even reported that Hal Jordan and John Stewart would be the top ring-bearing duos in the "Lethal Weapon in space" premise that's been rumored.

With all of this news for Green Lantern fans we had to ask ourselves, who could play John Stewart and what would they look like? How about Mahershala Ali from Marvel/Netflix' Luke Cage? He was great as Cottonmouth, and has some chops, but what would he look like as the Green Lantern / John Steart? Luckily we have Hamza Javed (hjaved.art) to answer that last question for us in this exclusive piece of fan-art! Hamza actually created two versions of the artwork, one with the standard "Hero" pose and the otherwith Ali's eyes glowing with lantern power. Could Mahershala Ali be up for the role of John Stewart? We have no idea, but we know he would look awesome as a Green Lantern! Want to view a larger, high-resolution version of the images  below? Click on them!

I never even thought of him, but he would be pretty great in the role.

I think he would do a great job. And I would think DC would want to get this guy, considering he's blowing up right now.

That looks awesome, really enjoyed his turn as Cottonmouth and thought he was a more interesting villain than his cousin or DiamondBack in Luke Cage.
Would love to see him cast.

Omari Hardwick is still my first choice as always, also Ryan Gosling for Hal, guy sure knows how to rock a suit.

Stop suggesting 40 year olds to play superheroes. Doesn't make any damn sense considering they'll be close to 50 by the time they're in two or three movies.
