Is this Parallax from The Green Lantern Movie?

An image floating around the internets that may be the first look we have of Green Lantern villain Parallax...

Parallax is a fictional comic book supervillain in the DC Comics universe. Created by writer Ron Marz and artist Darryl Banks for Green Lantern (vol. 3) #48 (January 1994), Parallax was devised as the new supervillain identity for former Green Lantern protagonist Hal Jordan.

After further changes for the Hal Jordan character over the subsequent years (sacrificing his life in order to reignite Earth’s Sun in the 1996 crossover storyline Final Night, and Jordan’s soul subsequently became the newest host of the Spectre in the 1999 miniseries Day of Judgment), 2004's Green Lantern: Rebirth once again cast Jordan as a heroic Green Lantern and explained Jordan's villainous career as the result of the influence of an alien parasite. Furthermore, with Parallax’s exposure, the Green Lantern Corps' vulnerability to the yellow color can be conquered if a given Lantern, particularly a well-trained one, can muster his or her willpower to overcome their fear.

Despite this reintroduction of the "yellow impurity", which is now referred to as the Parallax Fear Anomaly, the power rings' weakness against yellow no longer applies, as experienced wielders are now able to consciously recognize its source, and overcome the fear associated with it. It is still, however, a considerable weakness for new GL recruits, who must be taught the impurity's nature and how to combat it. During training, new recruits' rings may falter at times against yellow objects, and/or when a recruit is experiencing panic or fear.

Supposedly, this is a scan taken from a comic book to promote the movie, but is this pic real or not?

I'd be fine with it. Looks frightning like it should. Very similar to the books. A bit more girth wouldn't hurt though, but then again we haven't seen what it looks like next to Ryan.

So "Thenewscore" you are hating on this movie based on one trailer and some possible spoilers? Pathetic. Guess you might as well skip this movie since it won't live up to your lofty expectations. People like you are why these movies "fail." You have such high expectations and so if they don't meet them, the movie sucks.Don't you realize that while you comic book nerds(sorry I liked them back in the day but I'm not a big reader)hate movies like X3, Spider-Man 3, Wolverine and others, most people liked those movies. Remember you guys are only a MINORITY, not the majority. Just relax and try to enjoy a movie about one of your favorite heroes.

Since this movie is base on Secret Origin, how do we know that Parallax is even in the movie. That story's main villain was Hector Hammond.

Great find Bruce!

thenewscore : I think it's a pretty damn good represtentation. So it doesn't have the bat ears and it's not bright yellow (although it may be yellow when we see it on film) I think it looks cool.

In the first draft they combined Parallax and Legion into one character, but it was closer to the former than the latter. It is also said in the official synopsis.

No need to get personal, people. With movie trailers, some of what you see in the movie gets changed or removed. Oops, I just looked up the movie in Wikipedia, I guess Parallax IS a main villain, my bad.

@thenewscore-Ok GL is one of my favorite comics. Yea it may not be exaclty like the comic. In fact it may not even be Parallax, but seriously if that doesn't creep you out in any way all I have to say is where do you spend your nights?

Doesn't really look like something an entire Green Lantern Corps is needed to deal with. Looks more like you'd be ok with half a can of OFF.

Actually I think it looks very maticulate and complex. Several joints and apendages which would move in live action. It looks very detailed.

@adamdusza
ok first of all, I was actually agreeing with your comment about comic book fans having such stellar expectations about comic book movies and idiots saying a movie is gonna suck after seeing one trailer and a few pics. This is very true about a few people on this site. Also, I read comics but I dont expect the movie to be 100% loyal to the comics. The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 2 & Iron Man were examples of fine movies that werent completely loyal to the comics and were probably better for it

but its the second part of your comment which you lost me at, when you said X3, Spidey 3 and Wolverine were liked by some people. EVERYBODY hated those movies because they were poorly directed and there was a million things wrong with them. Its nothing to do with the fact that they didnt follow the comics. I have two friends who have never read a comic in their lives and they hated the above movies because they were poor movies in their own right. so you said some true things and some untrue things there

@thenewscore
ok we get it, you think it looks bad, you have made your point, move on
ManhuntersBastardChild
ManhuntersBastardChild - 11/22/2010, 10:00 AM
@ Shaman LOL...yes, but everyone who's anyone knows that it does. If the monster isn't raging and all wild-looking, and anyone says that size doesn't matter, then they're lying. But it's all about girth! nothing's more important than girth! thenewscore's, whole spiel is about how this Parallax needs more girth!

I think there is great potential for at least 3 good Lantern movies...its amazing at the amount of material that is available, I'm willing to bet that in the end we will see the black rings which wouldnt be a bad way to introduce the Justice League to the big screen
