The Comic Con coverage of Warner Bros next tentpole franchise has been plentiful; including revelations of new Lantern Corps members appearing in the film, Mark Strong's dedication to his character and we've even heard Ryan Reynolds recite the iconic Green Lantern Corps Oath. During an interview with Fandango, Reynolds acknowledges how important the Oath is to fans; and remembers a fateful day he had to say it in front of the cameras:
"It was nerve wracking [the first time]. I remember when I read..and there's been rewrites and redrafts and sometimes different dialogue is transcribed by people..and somebody wrote it down wrong. Nobody caught it and at the last minute I did."
"I [told them] 'You CAN NOT get the Oath wrong! We had a meeting about this..this is where [the fans] will murder you.' But it was amazing finally saying it for the first time."
Reynolds appears to have inundated himself in Green Lantern mythology; he has yet to be stumped by a reporters question about the character's transition from comics to film. Knowing that he has learned so much about the popular storyline outside of the script will hopefully ease fan worry as they wait for more official images and video of the film.
"The film is very close to Secret Origins, that Geoff Johns worked on as well..The die hard fans, the purists, are going to be very happy. We've departed in very few ways from the source material."
