Tyrese Gibson 'Commits' To GREEN LANTERN Lobbying; Calls Out Fan-Favorite Contender Idris Elba

The Furious 7 star has returned to Instagram to share more impressive fan art of himself as the Green Lantern while also continuing to lobby for the role in the Justice League and new standalone movies.

Just a couple days ago, one piece of Green Lantern fan art had visualized Tyrese Gibson as the character's John Stewart persona, and it essentially revealed the singer-turned-actor's interest in portraying the DC superhero on the big-screen. Today, the Transformers star has posted not one or two, but six additional fan art pieces to his Instagram with captions that further express his interest in the Emerald Crusader's cinematic reboot at Warner Bros.; Gibson even called out his potential competition. "Loving this energy...., Idris [Elba] fall back I got this!" he said in one caption. In another, Tyrese wrongly recited the Green Lantern oath before later reassuring that "I am fully committed to suiting up for this adventure." Clearly, Gibson and some very talented artists are having fun with the potential casting, but who knows if lobbying on social media will actually land him the role in Justice League Part One on November 17, 2017, maybe Justice League Part Two on June 14, 2019, and in the standalone Green Lantern movie on June 19, 2020. What do you think?

Shout to @bosslogix so cool!

He looks too small for the role imo. But then again they cast Miller as the Flash too.

Lets not Tyrese.

So he's lobbying for himself? Hmmm, well we're a few years away from the Green Lantern reboot and we're not even sure if we'll get Green Lantern in Justice League. Wonder which Green Lantern is going to appear in the DCCU.

I wouldn't mind him getting the role.

Campaigning rarely works, but good luck to him. Think he should at least get an audition.

I'd be fine with him being John Stewart if the Green Lantern reboot uses him as a supporting character along with Kilowag and Tomar, and has Hal Jordan be the main character.

I mean, 9 years isn't exactly that short of a time to reintroduce a character when
Batman was rebooted in 8 years and now 4 years
Spider-Man was rebooted in 5 years
Hulk was rebooted in 5 years
Superman was rebooted in 7 years
Fantastic Four was rebooted in 8 years

It's really not that hard for them to use Hal again as the focus. Just do it right this time.

Okay, I really, really do like his enthusiasm.

But...

I question his ability to hold a franchise, just based on his...Transformers...experience.

Sorry Tyrese, but I think I might want Idris to take this one after all.

I really hope not. If John Stewart is though the GL in JL, I so hope Ezra Miller is Wally West instead of Barry Allen then. The reason why is because this way there can be a future Flash & Green Lantern team up film with Hal Jordan and Barry Allen.

If John Stewart is going to be in the film series, I would like to see Quinton Jackson get the job. To date his biggest movie he has been in was The A-Team, but he would be great for the part. His martial arts expertise would really help with John's military background. Plus seeing a fighting scene between him and Dwayne Johnson (Black Adam) would be great too.

LMFAO at the "fan" knowing Idris wants out from his Marvel contract. Y'all so pathetic. The DELUSION right now.

Hal Jordan! Seriously

@BlackIceJoe

Ezra should be Wally anyways. Wally is the best Flash, has the best Reverse Flash, was the one who brought in the Flash's humor and wit, and brought in the concept of the speed force.

I'm not sure about Tyrese in the role, to be honest.

They should ask Common to be John Stewart. Dude's stock is going up with the Golden Globe.

Also, @TronVin this was the Spawn photo I was talking about.

Sure he must be feeling left out in the CBM, and disparate since all his A-list friends in Fast and furious are into CBM, like Gal as WonderWoman, Vin as Groot and Dwayane as Shazam.
I find Iris better than him tho.

Again, that's not Spawn. That's Mayhem, a comic he wrote with Jim Lee.

Go unknown for John Stewart if anything. I think that even though Hal can stand alone if there's a solid script, the Corps is definitely bigger than just any one, earth-based Lantern; a solid story can definitely reflect that, whether it's connected to DOJ or a solo film.
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/25/2015, 9:34 AM
Y'all realize Idris Elba could have other film commitments and shooting schedules right? He likely can't be GL if he has other commitments and shootings.

@LEVITIKUZ that's not Spawn. It's a character I think he created named Mayhem.

I still think GL is going to be Hal. I wouldn't mind him being John cause he'll probably just be a supporting character in the GL reboot. If he's in it.

Ah ok then. Thought it was Spawn due to Todd drawing and signing it.
