GREEN LANTERN CORPS Eyes MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT Director Christopher McQuarrie; Synopsis Revealed

We have an update on Warner Bros.' search for a director for the Green Lantern Coprs movie. It seems the studio is interested in Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed the upcoming Mission: Impossible sequel...

It's been a while since we've had any updates on Warner Bros.' Green Lantern Corps movie, and many fans were concerned that the studio may put the brakes on the reboot in the wake of Justice League's disappointing run at the box office. However, writer David S. Goyer recently confirmed that the movie was still moving forward, and we now have an update on director status.

Last we heard, Rise of the Planet of The Apes director Rupert Wyatt was rumoured to be in line to helm the picture, but That Hashtag Show now reports that the studio is actually looking to Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher, Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible-Fallout) to take charge of the project.

In addition, a brief logline for the movie gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the plot:

"Former test pilot Hal Jordan, now a veteran of the intergalactic group of protectors of peace and justice known as the Green Lantern Corps, mentors young recruit John Stewart."

Apparently, WB is looking to cast an actor in the 39-50 age range to play Jordan, so yes, frequent McQuarrie collaborator Tom Cruise might just be a possibility.

We're getting way ahead of ourselves, of course, because we don't even known if the director will agree to board the project - but the source is solid, so expect to hear more on this over the next couple of days.

Man, i f*cking love Green Lanterns...
Matter of fact, i love ALL Lanterns!
This (And a MOS 2) is one of my most anticipated movie, the potential is HUGE, like...Blackest Night kinda huge!
So yeah, get it straight from the very beginning, if they are really looking at this McQuarrie dude, then you don't even need Goyer as the writer, you can't trust him, too risky.

Fingers crossed, All will be Well!

@Doomsday8888 - I'm with you. Hand the reigns over to McQuarrie and let him write and direct this sucker. It is like guardians. So far removed from earth allows a lot of creative freedom for him. I also like the idea of Cruise as Hal and a guy like Mahersialla Ali as Stewart

@solargeknowles - I feel like this film should not exist with the DCEU. If done right, WB could have a fun and action packed intergalactic shared universe with:

Green Lantern
Martian Manhunter
Hawkgirl
Lobo
Starfire

Let it all take place in space seperating it from the Earth based films.

Isn't earth Hal's sector? Why didn't he help the justice league or even batman, superman, and Wonder Woman?

I guess we can say the same about captain marvel until we see the movies but color me intrigued, which I think is like a lite purple or something

I wonder if they'll play up the BLACKest night part of it. I'll keep saying it until it becomes a thing but #greenlanternsolamp
